Know FLYAC? Nope…well let me introduce you…FLYAC (which stands for Forever Young and Comfortable) is a six-piece hip-hop group from Woodbridge VA, consisting of MixMasterAle (Engineer),  (Engineer), Nico Green (Engineer/Producer/Artist), Legend Guevara (Artist), Xander (Artist), Anonimous Sound (Artist), and Double D (Artist). Started out two years ago, they recently joined up with another local group called Another Planet Ent and together they came up with a 14-track mixtape Long Overdue.

Released last month, the mixtape starts off with some smooth vintage beats then hits you with in-yer-face beats coupled with straight talking, reality-bites wordplay. Think SLUM VILLAGE meets a mild WU TANG CLAN.

Tracks  Wake Up, Red Wine Awwwe and Vibe features that vintage hip-hop drive where the raps that cruises with the production. The mixtape heats right up with the old-school, head rolling Rhythm4TheMind and When the Chips are Down (SUPERHOT TRACK, MUST LISTEN). Long Overdue goes out with a BANG with the super smooth, super-slick, SLUM VILLAGE-esque, Dreams.

This is ONE mixtape for serious hip-hop heads. So if you haven’t heard these guys in action, I suggest you have a quick sample of Long Overdue…and there’s no better place to start than the beginning….

I have another electrifying hip-hop track for you hip-hop heads out there. Today’s song is Focus by THE 3KNG. Track coming from their  album Endsight, released last July.

Last time the hip-hoppers were featured on NEW LEASE MUSIC, joining forces with PALEFACE JUNKIES for another in-your-face track, Killa Inside Me. Now these guys have their own spot on the blog as they are definitely in a league of their own – take time out and listen to Focus (and you’ll see what I mean!) If the track tickles your fancy, ahead over to their Bandcamp page and check out their album which fuses hip-hop with different genres with hard-hitting messages. Must listen.

Song of the Day: Edith – Bonnie Trash (Feat. Kurt Von Stetten)

Bonnie Trash - Edith

Today’s song is Edith, the very first release from Ontario’s independent rock/noise-pop band BONNIE TRASH.

Fronted by twin sisters, BONNIE TRASH  have teamed up with Boston Indie rocker KURT VON STETTEN to produce this  two and a half 80’s inspired punk/rock/pop production – take a listen.

If Edith tickle your fancy, look out for these rock chicks – and the release of their collaborative EP, Lynden Snakes, with KURT VON STETTEN in early in 2014.

If you live in the Ontario area, it may be worth checking  BONNIE TRASH out at  Lee’s Palace on 21st December.
