Song of the Day: October – Polar Caps

Today song is the super smooth October by London singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist and producer Owen Hughes-Holland aka POLAR CAPS. The single is coming his second EP, Altitudes released 3 November.

In an over saturated and fickle market, it’s a relentlessly tough job to be original in a specific genre and stay on top of the game these days. However POLAR CAPS  is definitely pushing the boundaries with his unique style of alternative electro acoustic pop.

Since launching in the summer of 2011, POLAR CAPS has already made a visible impact on the underground scene, with the successful release of his debut EP ‘Solutions‘. The EP received critical acclaim and tracks from the EP have featured in numerous TV shows .

This led to POLAR CAPS sharing the stage with the likes of EXAMPLE, THE CRIBS,  ALUNAGEORGE,  JAKE BUGG and DJ FRESH, featuring on NME.com, and MTV, having celebrities such as STACEY SOLOMAN & ALEX ZANE tweet about him. Now with the recent release of his second EP , it seems the future is most definitely looking bright for this young upstart.

Upcoming Release – War of Words – Ella On The Run

 

Alt pop artist ELLA ON THE RUN is set to release her single War of Words  on 24th November.The single is coming from her  debut EP of the same name also coming out this month.

Of Swiss, French and South African origin, Ella studied music at Berklee College in the US. She began recording under her stage name with LA producer Matthew Bang, who was previously an engineer for Interscope and Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group.

Her debut album, Golden Boys was placed on Glastonbury’s long list of emerging artists of 2014. The Londoner’s laid back and synth pop vibes have already caused a stir in the blogosphere and in the live circuits, appearing in various playlists including The Best Of British unsigned podcast.

So go on, a have a listen to War of Words…and if you’re feeling this track (and happen to be in the London area), ELLA ON THE RUN will be supporting Norwegian folk pop artist, DAGNY at the Old Queen’s Head, Islington on 19th November.

Song of the Day: Chasing the Stars – Katie Raven

If you’re planning  a chilled out weekend, start by listening to Chasing the Stars, the debut ‘orchestral pop’ single by KATIE RAVEN.

In 2011,the  singer/songwriter was discovered whilst busking in her native country New Zealand and was signed to London-based, Far South Records.

For the last three years, the law  student has been perfecting her craft by teaming up with Grammy-nominated UK writer/producer Sacha Skarbek, who worked with heavyweights like ADELE, JAMES BLUNT and LANA DEL REY.
