It’s only been three years since WILL INSPIRE entered the hip-hop game… and already he’s made a HUGE impact. The conscious upriser performed at SXSW 2 years straight, headlined numerous music festivals, and opened up for hip-hop heavyweight, Kendrick Lamar.

Now WILL INSPIRE took the next big step and released his first full-length project, Empty Pockets,  which features inspiring and  sit-up-and-take-note lyrics over mainly super-smooth, 90s-inspired chilled hip-hop beats. Definitely worth the attention.

Song of the Day: Cusp – Forebear

Today’s song is Cusp by Los Angeles-based indie rock band, FOREBEAR. The single is coming from their debut self-titled EP.

The band came to life in early 2014, when frontman Scott Goldbaum and Molly Rogers (viola, vocals) join forces with Mike Mussleman (drums) and Nick Chadian (bass). Each member have worked with various artists/bands including Feist, Randy Jackson, Keith Urban and Bastille.

After a few months into their existence, the four-piece rockers caught the attention of famed producer/engineer Scott Gordon (Alanis Morissette, Ringo Star) and the result was their debut  EP.  Cusp made it to today’s hot spot as it features Goldbaum’s stream of conscious lyrics, Molly’s  brooding viola solos and a velvety  rock drive that’s rarely found today.

FORBEAR EP is available right here.

Song of the Day: Love Come Home (Todd Terry Tee’s Freeze Mix) – Kristine W

Today’s song is Love Come Home by Kristine Weitz – aka – KRISTINE W. The track is the third release from her latest album New & Number Ones.

Born in a small town in Washington State, KRISTINE W became one of the hottest dance floor properties during the mid-’90s, with several singles featuring her  soulful voice which topped the dance charts and placed high on the pop charts through most of Europe. Her 1994 single  Feel What You Want, hit number one on the dance charts as well as the Top Five on the charts of ten European countries. The follow-up One More Try proved just as successful, earning  KRISTINE W a major-label contract with RCA. She released her debut album Land of the Living in mid-1996, and spent four years working on the follow-up, Stronger.

With nine consecutive #1s, the former Miss America contestant  holds the world’s record for Most Consecutive #1 Billboard Club Hits, surpassing Madonna and Janet Jackson’s previously shared record of seven.
