Album Review: Wizdom Blues – L*Roneous & 2bers

Wisdom Blues Album Cover

Wisdom Blues is the collaborative effort by L*RONEOUS and 2BERS. Released earlier this month, the three-track album gives a super-dope size of laid-back hip-hop, mixing jazz with early 90s-inspired golden boomp rap beats. This little treasure maybe too short, but it’s soooo sweet!

Wisdom Blues is the perfect introduction  to the California smooth emcee’s forthcoming album, Kill To Sing The Blues, schedule for release later this summer – look out for it. For now, check out Wisdom Blues – seriously it’s REAL smooth!

#TheMustListens: Taxi Cab Confessions, Humanity.

Song of the Day: Beautiful – Velly Marsh (Ft. Jenny Kacy)

Velly Marsh

Mixtape Review: Indefinite – Stanley Ipkuss & ewonee thee beatnik

indefnite Stanley Ipkuss
STANLEY IPKUSS and EWONEE THEE BEATNIK pulled together for their latest mixtape Indefinite, which dropped last month.

The 14- track collaborative production features California-based emcee Ipkuss’ raspy voice and reflective wordplay and New York producer Ewonee Thee Beatnik’s spin on vintage/golden hip-hop beats. With NAS-que raps coupled with chopped-up and somewhat stagnant versions of classic beats, the duo are well on their way to making a permanent stamp on underground hip-hop.

Indefinite is sure worth a listen as these guys have taken a mellowed-out sound (similar to NAS, BLU and CHUUWEE) to another (nope, wrong word) SEVERAL levels.

The Mustlistens: Dee.Bag, Bawmbin’, Caffeine, Browneyees, Presquevu, Citynights

Mixtape Review: Shades of Mary – Jetpack Jones and Brock Berrigan

Shades of Mary
Californian emcee JETPACK JONES and New York producer BROCK BERRIGAN came together for their latest collaborative effort Shades of Mary, released last month.

With the 17-track mixtape, the duo mixed hip-hop with every possible genres going – 70’s groove, 80’s funk, R&B, reggae, rare groove and a hint of Latin  – you name it, they’ve done it! What makes this project so intriguing is the super cool, chilling-in-the-summertime delivery of quick witted, laugh-out-loud wordplay that suits every genre featured on this mammoth production.

Even if you’re not a die-hard hip-hop head, Shades of Mary is definitely worth a trial, because these two guys created really something special here…

The #Mustlistens: Simply Because We Can, Roll, Stoner Hill, A Shade of Love, Find Your Cool, Farewell.

Song of the Day: The Finer Things – Rob Forte

Rob Forte Finer things
