Song of the Day: Heard About Me – Ron Beatty

Emerging from New Bern, a small city nestled in Eastern North Carolina, is a rapper by the name of RON BEATTY who’s ready to make a big impact. Formerly known as Chedda Chapp, this southern upriser shares the same mentors as Roc Nation’s Grammy Award Nominated Artist J. Cole and is co-founder and flagship artist of lifestyle brand Life’s Grand.

In the summer, the video to single Heard About Me was released and received over 19,000 views through Grassroots marketing campaign. In the four-minute production, he reflects on difficult family issues and his come up in the game.

Heard About Me will be featured on his forthcoming project, Manifest Destiny.

Having smashed it with the original, Sheffield’s hottest grimsta (that’s grime star, just in case you’re wondering) COCO comes back harder with two remixes of the single, Big Bou Yah with Jammz, Terminator and Trigga  on the vocal remix (watch the video) while Walter Egodrops drops a brand new dub of the hugely supported 1Xtra’s Toddla T original.

Big Bou Yah has been heavily playlisted across radio and TV, making COCO the one to watch for 2016. The three-minute explosive banger comes as the follow-up to debut single Target Practice, released via Girls Music in July, which earned the upriser serious recognition from Earmilk and GRM Daily.

EP Review: Do You Feel Electric? – Miss

miss

Fresh blood to the music scene, electronic rock duo MISS have released their entirely self-produced EP, Do You Feel Electric? last month.

Their four-track collection displays an avant-garde (and I have to say) a very dark approach to the aforementioned genres,  creating bitter-sweet volcanic bursts of excitement, well executed by the guitar and the piano (in Shelter).

Based in London and Sussex, these alternative rockers took a big gamble with their debut offering…and it could pay off quite handsomely. Show your support and take time out and listen to the EP.

Must Listens: Smokescreen (watch the video here), Shelter.

New Track! Feels Like Yesterday – Mi’das

feels like yesterday

Soulman Mike Davies -aka MI’DAS – released his latest effort Feels Like Only Yesterday, taken from his debut album All Inside Your Head, coming out early next year.

The three-minute reflective production displays his trademark soulful vocal and guitar style, bearing the strong influence of a 1970s Stevie Wonder.

The London-based crooner worked as a session musician with a string of heavyweights including Jessie J, Rita Ora, Labyrinth and Jamie Cullum and has performed at the O2 arena, Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park and Kensington Palace (In front of Prince William, Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift.)

With a total of 60 shows to 20,000 people this year and a new album on the horizon, this deeper-than-your average-pop (or should I say soul) star is the one to watch for 2016. Feels Like Yesterday is now available on iTunes.
