Mixtape Review: Olde English – Travis Boykin

Travis Boykin

When TRAVIS BOYKIN (formerly known as AMOR FATIII) approached me with the effortlessly smooth tracks, Payday and Edge of the Cliff Livin’, I suspect his fresh and velvety take on hip-hop would be the theme throughout his debut mixtape, Olde English released last month.

Still retaining the smoothness , the 10-track project also feature warm hints of old-school blues and jazz, which I did not expect from the laid-back Tennessee  emcee – but, hands down, it was a pleasant surprise.

Olde English is the perfect mixtape  for kicking back with some friends… that’s if you don’t mind the gigantic burp at the end! Have a listen and enjoy!

New Release: Die For You – Ironik

Check out the instantly addictive Die for You, the latest single by IRONIK. The track is coming from his  forthcoming E.P Ticking Off Boyhood Dreams.

At the age of 26, the UK alternative hip-hopper has been on the music scene for seven years and has already clocked up: two top five singles, a top ten single, a top ten album along with performances at Glastonbury, the MOBO Awards, T4 on the Beach (and take a deep breath!) He also collaborated with SIR ELTON JOHN, CHIP, LOICK ESSIEN and LEMAR… and made history by becoming the first rapper to perform for the Queen at Buckingham Palace!

Released this week via iTunes,  Die For You  sees the veteran rapper team up with fellow UK talent L Marshall. Go on, brighten up your day and have a listen!

New Release: I’m Afraid – Cody Pennington

Listen to this STUNNING new single from Nashville native alternative folk rocker CODY PENNINGTON. The single is coming from his five-track and (I must say) very stylish  EP, To Be Me released in August.

Now residing in Suffolk, the singer/songwriter was nominated for NMG award for Best Male Solo Artist of 2014…I predict he will scoop the award in the very near future. Go on, have a listen.

If you’re captivated by the guy’s soul-baring  raw vocals, To Be Me EP is available on iTunes and Amazon.

EP Review: Lost Letters – Argovia

Argovia Lost Letters

If you’re a fan of the MUSE and PORCUPINE TREE, then I have a sneaky feeling you’ll like ARGOVIA.

The Venezuelan rock duo unleashed their debut EP, Lost Letters late last month, in which they described each emotionally fuelled songs as ‘ love letters that’s never been sent’. So expect the angelic presence of the  keyboard and tranquil vocals with an almighty splash of post alternative metal and grunge. Enjoy!
