UK-based singer-songwriter KYRA has released a brand new visual for single Bandages. Co-written by MAIDAY (Girls Aloud, Leona Lewis) and FRED COX (Etta Bond, MNEK), the stunning single is taken from her highly anticipated debut 4 track EP of the same name.
Alt pop artist ELLA ON THE RUN is set to release her single War of Words on 24th November. The single is coming from her debut EP of the same name also coming out this month.
Of Swiss, French and South African origin, Ella studied music at Berklee College in the US. She began recording under her stage name with LA producer Matthew Bang, who was previously an engineer for Interscope and Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group.
Her debut album, Golden Boys was placed on Glastonbury’s long list of emerging artists of 2014. The Londoner’s laid back and synth pop vibes have already caused a stir in the blogosphere and in the live circuits, appearing in various playlists including The Best Of British unsigned podcast.
So go on, a have a listen to War of Words…and if you’re feeling this track (and happen to be in the London area), ELLA ON THE RUN will be supporting Norwegian folk pop artist, DAGNY at the Old Queen’s Head, Islington on 19th November.
If you enjoy lowdown dirty blues, (think SON HOUSE meets MARK LANEGAN) then check out this epic track, Swamp King by Canadian band KINGS OF LOWERTOWN…and if want to hear some gritty blues, check out their previous effort, 60 More Miles.
Swamp King is out this Friday via Bandcamp.
When TRAVIS BOYKIN (formerly known as AMOR FATIII) approached me with the effortlessly smooth tracks, Payday and Edge of the Cliff Livin’, I suspect his fresh and velvety take on hip-hop would be the theme throughout his debut mixtape, Olde English released last month.
Still retaining the smoothness , the 10-track project also feature warm hints of old-school blues and jazz, which I did not expect from the laid-back Tennessee emcee – but, hands down, it was a pleasant surprise.
Olde English is the perfect mixtape for kicking back with some friends… that’s if you don’t mind the gigantic burp at the end! Have a listen and enjoy!
