Mixtape Review: Indefinite – Stanley Ipkuss & ewonee thee beatnik

indefnite Stanley Ipkuss
STANLEY IPKUSS and EWONEE THEE BEATNIK pulled together for their latest mixtape Indefinite, which dropped last month.

The 14- track collaborative production features California-based emcee Ipkuss’ raspy voice and reflective wordplay and New York producer Ewonee Thee Beatnik’s spin on vintage/golden hip-hop beats. With NAS-que raps coupled with chopped-up and somewhat stagnant versions of classic beats, the duo are well on their way to making a permanent stamp on underground hip-hop.

Indefinite is sure worth a listen as these guys have taken a mellowed-out sound (similar to NAS, BLU and CHUUWEE) to another (nope, wrong word) SEVERAL levels.

The Mustlistens: Dee.Bag, Bawmbin’, Caffeine, Browneyees, Presquevu, Citynights

Mixtape Review: Rap is Life – Dope Soull

Dope SOULL Rap Is Life

Teenage emcee DOPE SOULL returns with his latest project, Rap Is Life released on 6th June.

While most rappers use quitted-witted and laugh-out-loud wordplay, this upriser used hard-hitting lyrics of (as the title of the mixtape indicates) his unflappable love for hip-hop over seriously chilled out beats.

He once said on NEW LEASE MUSIC that his music ‘provides knowledge for the young generation’. In fact all generations can relate to his soul-tugging lyrics- and it’s definitely displayed in the 11-track production. So feel his love and hunger for hip-hop through Rap Is Life right here.

The #MustListens: Dead Presidents, California, Song For My Naggas, Moment, Remember

Album Review: S.O.U.L – Rob Forte

rob forte SOUL
Last month ROB FORTE was featured on NEW LEASE MUSIC with chill-out track The Finer Things, which make up his first full-length album S.O.U.L, dropped on 15th May.

The 13-track production takes you through the journey of this upcoming emcee’s struggles and determination to make it in the hip-hop game. The combination of super chilled, smooth beats  and dense bassline is complemented by his faster-than-lightening raps. But don’t get too lost in the bassline and chilled melodies as there are strong and thought-provoking messages to take notice of – they’re truly heart-tugging and speak to the soul.

In a nutshell, S.O.U.L is so well produced that you forget this is the work of an upriser. Show your support and check it out.
