Song of the Day: Cusp – Forebear

Today’s song is Cusp by Los Angeles-based indie rock band, FOREBEAR. The single is coming from their debut self-titled EP.

The band came to life in early 2014, when frontman Scott Goldbaum and Molly Rogers (viola, vocals) join forces with Mike Mussleman (drums) and Nick Chadian (bass). Each member have worked with various artists/bands including Feist, Randy Jackson, Keith Urban and Bastille.

After a few months into their existence, the four-piece rockers caught the attention of famed producer/engineer Scott Gordon (Alanis Morissette, Ringo Star) and the result was their debut  EP.  Cusp made it to today’s hot spot as it features Goldbaum’s stream of conscious lyrics, Molly’s  brooding viola solos and a velvety  rock drive that’s rarely found today.

Mixtape Review: The Climb – The Soho Kings

The soho Kings - The Climb Mixtape

New York hip-hop/electro pop duo SOHO KINGS have dropped their second full-length mixtape, The Climb last month. Hosted by DJ Absolut, the 14-track project displays their ingenious trademark of explosive mix of hell rising rock, pop, EDM and hip-hop. Check out The Climb right here.

After the success of his most recent single Not Afraid, VAGABOND FLAG is due to release the second single, Those Old Days.

In his latest offering, the London-based rocker addresses taking a retrospective look on life – the benefits of being older and confident, whilst also growing more and more cynical. The four-minute production also addresses the excitement and innocence of youth, before it fades and pleads not to forget the beauty of impeccability and naivety that we are all blessed with when we are young.

The track is perfectly topped off with soaring guitar riffs and laid back vocals that possess a reminiscent quality of 90’s British rock music.

Those Old Days is due for release on 15th December , with the album coming out on the 12th January.

EP Review: Lost Letters – Argovia

Argovia Lost Letters

If you’re a fan of the MUSE and PORCUPINE TREE, then I have a sneaky feeling you’ll like ARGOVIA.

The Venezuelan rock duo unleashed their debut EP, Lost Letters late last month, in which they described each emotionally fuelled songs as ‘ love letters that’s never been sent’. So expect the angelic presence of the  keyboard and tranquil vocals with an almighty splash of post alternative metal and grunge. Enjoy!

EP Review: Childhood Home – The Healing

Childhood home The Healing

I came across this little treasure which comes in the form of a four-track EP, Childhood Home, by London – based panoramic rockers THE HEALING.

Why is this EP a real treasure? It’s just good wholesome music, nothing less. Consisting of Jim Moreton (vocals, guitar), Nicolas Py (drums), Sam Thiery (bass) and Ariel Moreton (harmony vocals), the band pull together a perfect mix of melodic guitars and drums with groovy rock undertones and dreamy vocals that reflect on the years of a rollercoaster childhood.

Their stamp on soft rock have been widely compared to heavyweights, NEIL YOUNG, WILCO, LED ZEPPELIN  KURT VILE, LUCINDA WILLIAMS and THE BEATLES – but after listening to this EP, I can’t help but think there’s a slight feel of  1970’s FLEETWOOD MAC.

Have a listen and see if you agree.
