Song of the Day: Summer Night On Fairytale Land – Pedro Syrah

Pedro Syrah Summer Night on Fairytale land

Singer-songwriter and guitarist PEDRO SYRAH prepares for the release of his new album Fairytale Land with this intimate new track Summer Night On Fairytale Land.

The Portugal-born crooner  has already played in esteemed Lisbon venues such as the mighty Aula Magna and now hopes to take his fresh and exciting sound beyond his birthplace. A creative guitarist, he draws a lot of influence from classical music, also playing with unconventional tunings to form a unique sound that is entirely his own.

His upcoming album is set to centre around a variety of personal themes including love stories, the loss of friends and a road trip he took in California. Pedro has described his sound as ‘an immersive experience into ourselves and our feelings’.

With recording set to take place in Abbey Road studio with Sean Magee, Fairytale Land is sure to take this sound to new levels. His music is likely to appeal to fans of indie-folk artists including Ben Howard, Damien Rice, The National and Jamie Cullum.

Fairytale Land is out October…for now, watch the video to the latest single, Summer Night on Fairytale Land.

Song of the Day: Hop In the Place – Sticky Blood (ft. LDizz)

sticky blood hop in the place

Following on from their Rhythm & Grime single Garn Again featuring Snowy and Yxngz, the production duo STICKY BLOOD keep smashing out the tracks and another one Hop In The Place. This track takes on Grime x Trap vibes, with its deep bass and beats, and the hard-edged lyrics.

Their work-rate is second to none, with a string of releases such as their debut EP I-D in 2015 and follow-up EP Blood Is Stickier Than Water gaining support from Red Bull, Complex, Radio 1Xtra, Clash, Wonderland, NME, Toddla T, Mistajam and Monki.

The two are now joined by another Steel City representative L Dizz who is from the new generation of Grime, and has gained attention from 1Xtra DJMistajam. He distinguishes himself between a melodic, anthemic chorus to rapping with a demanding, unyielding flow with a strong and powerful delivery that commands your attention. It’s backed by STICKY BLOOD’s alarming synths, snappy snares, militant hi hats all backed with a bass big enough to shake the grimiest of raves up.

They are already unsettling other producers across the UK with their unique and explorative sounds and wave of releases, and will continue to do so throughout the year. The anticipation is growing and growing for the new duo in town.

Song of the Day: Delroy Lindo – Forebear

forebear Delroy

One of NEW LEASE MUSIC’s hot favourites FOREBEAR makes an appearance for the first time this year, but a tad more broody and darker than usual.

Their latest single, Delroy Lindo ( in the words of  frontman Scott Goldbaum) tells a story of two people moving to the West Coast to be together only to have the illusion of what they thought waited for them be eaten alive by their false romanticism.

Delroy Lindo is the lead single from their highly anticipated album, Good God, set for release on 26th August. For now, have a listen.

Song of the Day: Aim – Adian Coker (ft. Bluey Robinson)

Adian Coker

ADIAN COKER takes Aim and shows what a true marksman he is on his brand new single taken from forthcoming E.P Connect.

A futuristic galaxy of electro synths orbit around an explosive drum beat making way for the entrance of a rock fuelled hook. The larger-than-life emcee takes a strong lyrical stance on the three-and-a-half banger, a quality that his fans will already be accustomed to – however there’s something notably different about this record. There’s a relaxed edge to the track, aided by the smooth R&B/soulful hook from Bluey Robinson, making it the perfect introduction to his EP.

In recent years, the South Londoner has earned an array of support from some of the most impressive music platforms. Each of them delve into his musical output giving the big thumps up to his ingenuity, depth and ambition yet there’s always been an air of mystery surrounding him and his music.

Connect is a very deliberate release, offering a side to ADIAN COKER that hasn’t been revealed before. The release gives an understanding and a much more upbeat and playful element to his music without any compromise on quality.

So here’s your chance to take aim to check out the single.
