New Track: Give Me Heart – Sophia

In the lead up to the release of her debut EP (2017) SOPHIA has learned the art of making the music she loves, true to herself with conviction and without compromise. At only 22, her music is the unique expression of the cultural and creative melting pot provided by her upbringing. Having traveled more in her childhood than most do in a lifetime, her stories, songs and musings are fused with wisdom beyond her years and a simplicity, rooted in the quiet confidence of being.

Having already toured the UK tour this year, recorded at the iconic Abbey Road studio and begun production on her debut EP, SOPHIA is gearing up for a phenomenal 2017.

As many search for meaning in the world outside, Sophia’s music draws you into the journey within, the discovery of one’s self and the expression of the treasure you find. With the release of her debut single ‘Give Me Heart’ late last month (via indie label Orphan No More),SOPHIA side steps genres from folk, gospel and pop with a voice so alluring, yet undeniable in power.

A music video directed by Toby Mitchell, cinematography by Dominic Döring will accompany the track, she adds : ‘This song is about leaning into the mystery, where what rings true in your heart surpasses the need to know it all from your head. I’ve learnt that this is where freedom lives.’

New Music Video: Julia – Bella Loka

Following the release of music video for single, ‘Go Down’, Tea and David Boothby – otherwise known as BELLA LOKA – shows no sign of slowing down and churns out another video for bittersweet single entitled ‘Julia’, release in conjunction with their album, ‘The Light, The Mud & The Dark’ on 28th April.

The four-minute offering documents a complicated relationship between mother, son, and daughter-in-law. Featuring cello from guest musician Mark O’Connor, the song was produced by guitarist David Boothby and mixed by Rob Cass & Pearse MacIntyre at Abbey Road Studios.

Tea Boothby’s touching video was partly filmed at the Alton Towers theme park resort along with  glimpses of video footage of David as a child….so it’s time to watch the video for heart-wrenching single ‘Julia’…and if it did pull your heartstrings, it’s worth sampling their album here.

New Music Video: Go Down – Bella Loka

BELLA LOKA unleashed their brand-new music video for ‘Go Down’, the lead track from the forthcoming debut album, ‘The Light, The Mud & The Dark’, set to be released via DEFDISCO on 28th April 2017.

Recorded at Abbey Road Studios with in-house producers Rob Cass & Pearse MacIntyre, ‘Go Down’ contrasts ethereal, seductive vocals with a pumping monster-hook chorus and filtered, broken guitars and synths.

The sinister video was produced, directed and edited by singer/songwriter Tea Boothby, whose artistic vision extends to creating all of BELLA LOKA‘s music videos, artwork, and live visuals.

‘Go Down’ will be an instant gratification download with pre-orders of the album available from yesterday. There’s also the opportunity to explore the upcoming album through an interactive choose-your-own-adventure game on YouTube called ‘Colin: The Chicken & The Egg’, where you get to decide the fate of the characters Colin and The Blue Miner as they seek to survive the night, save the town, and avoid one of many unfortunate demises!

But before you head off for the game, have a sneak peek of the video.

New Track: Haters – Line Mari

LINE MARI released her latest single, Haters, which displays the Norwegian newcomer  laying her gorgeously wispy vocals over brooding and heartfelt pianos before erupting into a soaring chorus to a backdrop of tropical-tinged synths.

Line was born in Tromsø, also living for some time in Svalbard, one of the most Northerly inhabited places in the world. As a child, she grew up regularly witnessing the beauty of the Northern Lights, as well as once having a close encounter with a polar bear whilst at Kindergarten.

A highly versatile musician, Line not only sings and writes her own music, she also plays a number of instruments including guitar, piano and harmonica (she is currently also learning to play the fiddle). She has a keen interest in vintage music and vintage guitars and owns several custom-made guitars and her own custom-made pedal-board.

Haters and previous single Crush are set to appear on Line’s upcoming album, which fans can grab hold of this month. The album was recorded at the legendary Abbey Roads studio, recorded with major producer Rob Cass and electronica producer Pearse MacIntyre.

So here’s some words of encouragement; have a listen to Haters.

Music Video: Well Done – Bella Loka

Husband and wife team BELLA LOKA return with a kaleidoscopic music video to double A-single Well Done, released last month.

Produced by singer/songwriter Tea Boothby, the three-and-a-half-minute production reflects the duo’s visual representation of the mental disorientation they experienced upon moving to London from their hometown of Bristol in order to further their music career.

The song describes the virtual wilderness Tea & David found themselves in after deciding to move on from their Bristol-based indie-rock band and re-invent as a Camden-based electronic alt-pop duo recording with in-house producers Rob Cass & Pearse MacIntyre at Abbey Road Studios.

Despite its traumatic origins the song is relentlessly upbeat, with singer Tea determined to “turn my pain into a song” and choosing to listen to the voice that says, “Well done, you’ve made it this far… you’re gonna make it out.”

You gonna need your sunglasses for this one…check the video for Well Done.
