Song of the Day: Chillin’ – Coops

Coops - Chillin
Today’s song is Chillin‘ by UK rapper COOPS. Track coming from his upcoming mixtape Lost Soul.

After winning the Choice FM Breakthrough Competition in 2013, the North London rapper was given the opportunity to perform at the London o2 with none other than Hip-Hop royalty, NAS. The series of events instilled a new self-belief  and having previously used music as a pastime, the 23-year-old Londoner’s passion for the craft was ignited.

After completing a degree in performing arts at Southampton University, COOPS set to work on his mixtape  Lost Soul.

The first track to from the mixtape,  Chillin is an introduction to the soulful, laid back, hip-hop vibe that he represents. With an evident stroke of creative intuition, this upriser matches an effortless flow and delivery with a beautifully pared down beat that allows his content to shine, and embodies its title to the fullest.

Have a listen to Chillin‘. If you’re feeling this track, it’s worth looking out for the mixtpe, which is set for release on 2nd June via his website.

Song of the Day: Cold – Maxsta (Ft. Dot Rotten, Flowz & Chase Inferno)

Maxsta cold mixtape 1.5

Today’s song is Cold by British rapper MAXSTA. The track is taken his latest project, The 1.5 Mixtape, released 30th March.

After the success of  Got Gassed, MAXSTA drops this follow up single with a melodical flow and chilled beat. His lyrical content digs deeper and he shows how diverse he is as an artist. Following a monstrous end to 2013 as the headlining clash on the top 40 selling album ‘Lord of the Mics’; MAXSTA is back with a collection of tracks that sees him make a welcome return to his musical roots with ‘The Maxtape 1.5′.

Speaking of his latest release, he says:  “Its all about the Maxtape 1.5. Having parted ways with Sony Records, I feel I’m in a place where I want to create my own lane and basically become everything I’ve wanted to be and everything I am by showing all of my industry and life experience so far. I feel like my music is coming from an adult view point now and I’m excited to surprise my fans, other artists and most importantly, myself.”

In 2009, at the age of just 17, MAXSTA released his debut project the ‘The Maxtape’ featuring singles such as ‘East London is Back and Skadoosh with Ghetts & Dolla Da Dustman which led him to become the first artist to sign to Sony RCA subsidiary, Just Jam pioneered by SBTV’s Jamal Edwards. After penning a contract with Just Jam,  MAXSTA went on to feature in Adidas’ We Are London campaign and release his debut singles I Wanna Rock which featured as Radio 1 presenter, Nick Grimshaw’s record of the week and Wanna Go featuring Little Nikki with the pair reaching number 67 and 40 respectively in the UK charts in 2012.

EP Review – Room for improvement – E-Thrilla

Ethrilla Room for Improvement

UK rapper/producer/songwriter E-THRILLA is determined to take hip-hop to another place through his EP Room For Improvement, released last month.

In this 3-track production, the Manchester-based artist incorporates the genre with refreshingly-light and echoic modern melodies, as featured in Simple and Ready. Romance Is Dead brilliantly samples PALOMA FAITH’s single of the same name, which is infused with his trademark of that modern, slightly sped-up simple and light undertone.

Room for Improvement is an EP that leaves you wanting more. With such innovative approach to hip-hop, it’s intriguing to see what E-THRILLA will do next…so stay tuned for more updates!
