New Track: Coldest Season – View

View coldest season

Finland’s hottest hip-hop export VIEW makes an icy return with his new single, Coldest Season, released last Friday via VILD Recordings.

With its icy-entrancing beats and introspective wordplay, Coldest Season is a darker offering compared to the previous single, Lace feat electro duo LCMD, which was supported by The 405 and The Line Of Best Fit. The single is taken from View’s upcoming debut album which will be released later in the year.

Following the success of his debut EP Avalon, Helsinki based View – real name Juuso Ruohonen – has already made a name for himself in his homeland with his own brand of darkly hypnotic beats and introspective lyrics. Favouring minimalism and low-toned sounds, the 23-year-old focuses on personal issues such as depression and identity, giving his music a rare and poignant honesty.

The Coldest Season is now available via iTunes…but for now, check out the black and white visual to the single.

EP Review: When It Rains – Kyle Lettman

Kyle Lettman When it Rains EP

Following the explosive, multi-genre EP Under Construction, KYLE LETTMAN takes it back a couple of tempos (and back to the 90s) with his latest offerings, When It Rains, released earlier this month.

The sweetest old school R&B slow jams take centre stage in the six-track production, where the London-based songster gives the between-the-sheets treatment to Adele’s hit, Hello.

LADIES (or guys!): if you go weak at the knees as soon as you hear a ballad, well  it’s definitely worth investing your time in this little treasure.

Must Listens: Hello, Love language, When It Rains.

New Track! My Place – SleepLust

My Place sleeplust

In the span of less than two years, songstress/poet Meghan Tartamella and twin brothers Michael and Joseph Pepe -aka – SLEEPLUST – has become one of Los Angeles’s most exciting and sought after indie electronic pop outfits.

The trio released their debut self-titled EP in November to critical acclaim and commercial success. Recorded in their hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, the five track release is an homage to the band’s roots, hometown and the major transition periods in life we can all relate to. “The EP really speaks to those shifts in emotions, priorities and relationships. It’s about coming more into ourselves and feeling safe in who/where that is.” Tartamella says wistfully.

My Place sleeplust

Their latest single My Place is the first song written and recorded in the band’s new home of Los Angeles. The three-and-a-half minute production displays the band’s unique trademark, which combines brooding electronics, wandering synths and heavy bass, all brought together by Tartamella’s sultry yet focused melodies.

This Spring,  SLEEPLUST’s music will be featured on major cable networks such as MTV, VH1, E! and Oxygen. The band is also busy headlining select West Coast tour dates and playing festivals this summer.
