New Track: Every Country – JayKae (ft. Murkage Dave)

Bringing a throwback, old-school garage inspired sound for the summer months, Birmingham hip-hop artist JAYKAE and east London artist and DJ Murkage Dave – also part of Tonga and one half of the UK alt-R&B duo HALFBROTHER – have released their new track ‘Every Country’.

Produced by Skepta, the track came together after the pair previously collaborated on the Tonga record ‘CCTV’ last year. The accompanied visual was directed by Luke Sparrowhawk of Birmingham’s P110 and was shot in Paris, where Murkage Dave had been working on music, bringing to life the refrain of having a ‘peng ting in every country’.

First performing the track as a part of JAYKAE’s headline show at MADE festival in his hometown, the duo are set to perform ‘Every Country’ again at Reading & Leeds Festival during JAYKAE’s set later this month.

Putting Birmingham’s grime scene firmly on the map, JAYKAE first picked up the mic in 2009 which subsequently led to him becoming a part of the city’s prominent squad Invasion Alert. Known for his strong flow, dynamic delivery and authentic style, which draws deeply from his own life experiences, his focus on his solo career recently saw him supporting Skepta on the Birmingham date on the Konnichiwa tour.

He recently featured on Skepta’s all-star remix of the hit single ‘That’s Not Me’ and alongside collaborations with his Birmingham cohorts Dapz On The Map and Lotto Boyzz he has worked with breakout UK rap star Mist. With recent sets at Glastonbury, Lovebox and #Merky Festival in Ibiza under his belt, JAYKAE continues to prove why his electric energy and show-stopping lyrical talent make him a crucial part of the UK’s grime scene and the essential voice to his city.

Song of the Day: Hero – Emil (ft. P Money)

Delivering an introspective insight into the male and female perspective of a relationship, EMIL  smashes into the Summer  with new single ‘Hero’, featuring P Money.

Describing her debut, as ‘being in the real world chasing a fairytale’ EMIL’s effortless vocals glide beside the trap- influenced beat as she tells the story of looking for a ‘Hero’, while P Money’s rapid verse portrays the male acumen of the situation.

Having built a name for herself among her peers and friends in the UK hip-hop scene over recent years, EMIL has been relentlessly grinding and has worked alongside some of the finest UK producers including The Heavytrackerz (credits including Stormzy, Skepta, Katy B) and The Forbes who produced ‘Hero’. After getting her first taste of the music industry back in 2015, alongside Joe Weller on the top 30 single ‘Wanna Do’, she then went on to collaborate with friend and grime star P Money on his ‘Money Over Everyone’ mixtape.

The multi-talented singer songwriter and model from Hackney, has drawn much inspiration from 90’s R&B pioneers like Lauryn Hill and Sade, which is conveyed through her own music and ability to create compelling stories through her lyrics. ‘Hero’ has picked up support from many online platforms including The Wav From, Complex, Yahoo Music, UMA, Urban Boss, Pardon My Blog, Luna Mag, Som Magazine and Underground Industry.

With a stellar performance at The Great Escape festival and a plethora of support already under her belt, EMIL is brewing up a fairytale storm that is due to spread worldwide.

Inspired by great British vocalists such as Sam Smith, Kwabs and Lemar, AEO showcases his own brilliant vocals and songwriting dexterities, on this new offering, underpinned by a rich musical backdrop of piercing piano and guitar arrangements, minimalist drum patterns and thrilling choral melodies.

Speaking about the inspiration behind his  single, the powerhouse said: “the lyrics to Fight are inspired by my pursuit of a career in music, which has spanned five years so far. I’ve had to fight for what I believe is my first love and passion – music. This song tells that story, and it’s a personal note to myself, telling me not to give up”.
