Star Song: The Arrival – Latka

Latka - The arrival

Today’s song is called The Arrival by four-piece Canadian band LATKA. The single is from their debut album, My Bright Heart released earlier this month.

In their bio, the rock-pop act said they are ‘set out to bring POP music that you can really move to’ –well they certainly achieved that! The Arrival is a fun, feel-good production that really gets you moving –listen for yourself. If The Arrival put a spring in your step, head over to their Bandcamp page and check out the album.

With two EPs and an album underneath their belt, LATKA is set to take their music beyond their hometown Winnipeg and break into the national and international scenes…watch this space!

Star Song: Chasing the Sun – Opusonic

opusonic chasing the sun

Today song is called Chasing the Sun from UK electronic duo OPUSONIC.

OPUSONIC is formed by brother and sister from Essex (Jon and Saira) – and boy do they make a good team! Jon creates light, crisp and on-point electronic/dance melody, whilst songwriter Saira offers an ultra soothing, dreamy and almost DIDO-esque vocals. This track is fit for a chilled out day on a beach in Ibiza.

Go on guys, have a listen to Chasing the Sun. If this track tickle your fancy, head over to their SoundCloud page and listen to more of their  out-of-this-world tracks.

Star Song: Blow Your Brains Out – Aerick Baker with Kanye West

AERICK BAKER is back…this time he brought along KANYE WEST for his latest single, Blow Your Brains Out.

Last month, I featured the talented singer on this blog with his super bad track Y.C.T.M (You Can Try Me). This time it’ll be nice to get to know the man behind that sweet music.

When he was a child AERICK BAKER wanted to be a dinosaur (a brachiosaurus to be exact) – hmmm…Ok, I guess that was an innocent childhood dream! As he got older, he wanted to be a scientist and build a time machine to fix world’s problems – very admirable. THANK GOD he never became a scientist as I’ll never come to know of his truly unique atmospheric R&B signature sound.

In his bio, Aerick mentioned that he felt ostracized as a kid and always wanted to fit in -well, most of us can relate to that. With an out-of-sight discography under his belt, this Los Angeles artist is more than welcome on NEW LEASE MUSIC.

So guys, here’s your treat for today – have a listen to Blow Your Brains Out. Check out his other tracks on You Tube (highly recommended!)

Star song: Wanda – All We Got (ft Aimee Pace) MA

Today’s song is coming from one of UK’s brightest rappers, WANDA. His latest single, All We Got, is the third release from his debut mixtape, The Rebirth.

Born and bred in Leicester, WANDA began rapping since the age of 15 and in 2009 he signed his first record deal with Global Xzotix Records as writer and recording artist. He part ways with the record label in 2011 and although there were no official releases, the young rapper sites his experience with Global Xzotix Records as a learning curve.

WANDA featured on hip-hop group Leicester All Star’s hit track Straight from Lc. This track received heavy rotation on BBC Radio 1Xtra and the video to the song received over half million views on Youtube.  WANDA also had the opportunity to support acts such as BOW WOW.

2012 saw this talented artist penned songs for himself as well as other singers. In 2013, WANDA released his first mixtape The Rebirth. If you haven’t heard of WANDA, I suggest you listen to All We Got, as it is the perfect introduction to this guy’s oh-so-sick freestyling! With this track, this may be his breakthrough year!

Star song: Flashback – Malynda Hale

Malynda Hale - oranges Today’s song is Flashback from Californian born R&B- pop singer/songwriter MALYNDA HALE.

This lady has achieved so much I don’t know where to begin! This powerhouse singer penned her first song at the age of nine – from that point, she never looked back.  In 2012 she released her album The Train Ride Home, which received raving reviews from music critics – and got her a deal with Soul Shine PR agency. Her songs from the album Blue Eyes, City Lights, In Love and Crazy Inside were included in the Crucial Music Catalogue, a music licensing company which place songs in Oscar-winning films, Emmy-award winning television shows and national commercials.

No doubt her latest single will be added to her impressive CV. Recorded for the upcoming  film Oranges (by CradeMade Entertainment) Flashback, offers three and a half minutes of smooth R&B infused with pop, which is topped off with Hale’s heavenly and controlled vocals (which puts me in the mind of HEATHER HEADLEY!)

Come on, listen to Flashback. Does MALYNDA HALE sound like HEATHER HEADLEY? Answers below please! Like me, if you’re in love with Flashback, it’s worth visiting iTunes to check out her full discography.
