Song of the Day: Honest – Silence Is The Noise

After claiming the Song of the Day hotspot with single ‘Nappy’, SILENCE IS THE NOISE returns to the limelight for the second time with brand new single entitled ‘Honest’.

The latest release touches on the romantic complexities and emotional ambiguity of unarticulated desire, as well as the difficulties in being vulnerable. It highlights the frustration one feels of wondering whether a person is into them or not by making it more complicated than it needs to be in not being honest.

The angelically sweet presence of the piano is immediately introduced in the three-and-a-half minute production which seamlessly leads into her smooth neo soul trademark. Silence’s vocals inject extra soul, delicately venting her thoughts of the issues mentioned.

This is a great follow-up that puts you in the mind of Corinne Bailey Rae and Erykah Badu…iron out your humpday and check it out…

Song of the Day: Nappy – Silence Is The Noise

Jewell Bell – aka SILENCE IS THE NOISE – enters today’s hotspot with some food for thought with her single, ‘Nappy’.

The neo soul/R&B creation is considered to be a love song for black women. As a black woman herself, who is all too aware of the lack of positive representation and affirmation of their beauty, it was vital that she writes a song that could not only inspire but uplift not just black women in her life, but black women in general.

Often compared to the like of  Lianne La Havas, Corinne Bailey Rae, Yukimi from Little Dragons, and Nina Simone, the Detroit songbird is planning to release an EP in later this year.

Song of the Day: High Tide – Caz Aglets

This week, there’s a load of promising upcomers filling up the Song of the Day hotspot and it’s CAZ AGLETS‘ turn to take the limelight with track ‘High Tide’, taking from his album ‘Void’ released in November.

What’s so remarkable is that this guy has written and produced the album before his 18th birthday. When you do have a spare moment, please do check out ‘Void’ and you’d think it was created by someone way beyond his years. ‘High Tide’ is a prime example of the intricate and complex arrangements that’s presented in the album: featuring a tampered downtempo bass, the single is topped off by a vibrant female vocal, giving the production that edgy sensation. ‘High Tide’ is an acquired taste, but it deserves nothing less than pure admiration for the hard work.

Song of the Day: TKO – Jeff Dean (ft. La’Britney)

JEFF DEAN join forces with Detroit R&B singer, La’Britney for a R&B mid-tempo number entitled ‘TKO’.

Also a Detroit native, JEFF DEAN singing influences run deep in the richness of the city. Having the classic church background common in such a historically musical hometown, Jeff found his way to the microphone via numerous avenues. Starting in Sunday morning worship services and the Wayne State University Gospel Choir all the way to competing through several rounds of X-Factor, Jeff knew that music and singing was his passion.

In 2014, he ventured out on his own and released his first single, ‘House Guest’ featuring Earlly Mac and produced by Jupyter. After receiving such a positive response on various streaming outlets (including 30k plays on SoundCloud) as well as a feature on RnBass, Jeff took things a step further. Enlisting the songwriting and management assistance of Universal Music Group Publisher and songwriter Antea Shelton (APLUS), Jeff released his first EP, MAD DOPE, which included 4 promo videos and another feature on RnBass.

Currently in the works is a brand new single titled ‘TKO’, created by Grammy nominated producers and writers Yonni Fairchild (Fergie, Keyshia Cole, Rick Ross), APLUS (Justin Bieber, JLo, Beyonce) and Marcus Mims…this one is too good to miss…hit the play button on this one.
