Fresh blood to the music scene, electronic rock duo MISS have released their entirely self-produced EP, Do You Feel Electric? last month.
Their four-track collection displays an avant-garde (and I have to say) a very dark approach to the aforementioned genres, creating bitter-sweet volcanic bursts of excitement, well executed by the guitar and the piano (in Shelter).
Based in London and Sussex, these alternative rockers took a big gamble with their debut offering…and it could pay off quite handsomely. Show your support and take time out and listen to the EP.
Must Listens: Smokescreen (watch the video here), Shelter.
Soulman Mike Davies -aka MI’DAS – released his latest effort Feels Like Only Yesterday, taken from his debut album All Inside Your Head, coming out early next year.
The three-minute reflective production displays his trademark soulful vocal and guitar style, bearing the strong influence of a 1970s Stevie Wonder.
The London-based croonerworked as a session musician with a string of heavyweights including Jessie J, Rita Ora, Labyrinth and Jamie Cullum and has performed at the O2 arena, Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park and Kensington Palace (In front of Prince William, Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift.)
With a total of 60 shows to 20,000 people this year and a new album on the horizon, this deeper-than-your average-pop (or should I say soul) star is the one to watch for 2016. Feels Like Yesterday is now available on iTunes.
It’s been several months since RAPHAEL BLAKE was feature on NEW LEASE MUSIC with a series of installments from his 2014 mixtape, #TheUndergrad….and as you can see, he’s back with his latest effort, Sweet Illusion.
As part of BBC Radio 1Xtra’s #WordsFirst campaign this November, ‘seeking to find the hottest and freshest spoken word talent from across the country’, DJ Target premiered the soulful/electronic effort late last month.
The spoken word poet has been busy within those last several months with performances at various festivals over the summer including Lovebox 2015 as well as gaining online support from Complex, Clash and Hunger TV.
Following the debut release of the critically acclaimed self-titled EP in 2013, Jack Levy (vocals, keys, laptop) and Bill Wright (guitars)- aka London-based duo RAINBOW SHARK – return, fully refreshed, and are morethan ready to unleash their second EP A Light Echo.
A feather light pop rock is featured in the four-track set, pulled together by melodic electronic overtones, which is (sort of) a cross between Depeche Mode and New Order. Have a listen and see if you agree.
