focus the 3kngz

I have another electrifying hip-hop track for you hip-hop heads out there. Today’s song is Focus by THE 3KNG. Track coming from their  album Endsight, released last July.

Last time the hip-hoppers were featured on NEW LEASE MUSIC, joining forces with PALEFACE JUNKIES for another in-your-face track, Killa Inside Me. Now these guys have their own spot on the blog as they are definitely in a league of their own – take time out and listen to Focus (and you’ll see what I mean!) If the track tickles your fancy, ahead over to their Bandcamp page and check out their album which fuses hip-hop with different genres with hard-hitting messages. Must listen.

Also show your appreciation and holla them @3KNGZ.

Surfboard soho Kings

If you had a pretty crap weekend, then this track will sure cheer you up! Today’s song is Surfboard by New-York hip-hop/electro duo SOHO KINGS.

From the very start,  rapper/DJ Celsius911 and producer/singer Bryce Alvord have been making waves with their unique blend of electrifying hip-hop and pop accompanied with the heavy EDM drive.  The mixtape, Don’t Go Down That Road earned these guys a  spot on the CMJ Hip-Hop charts (peaking at no.15). Their music videos proved to be a massive hit with fans and bloggers, as two of their productions clocked up over 400K hits on YouTube.

There’s no rest for the eccentric duo as they are rocking huge shows at premiere NYC venues such as  Santos Party House and Greenhouse as well as collaborating with urban acts like Troy Ave, Ransom, and Jeny Romero.

South Carolina-based rapper/producer Christopher Lee – better known as CHRI DOLLASIGN by his loyal fans – has dropped his mixtape,  Shit Real under his record label ThaERA Entertainment.

Released earlier this month, this very short (but sweet) mixtape offers some seriously top-notch head-bopping, melodic beats. When you get the chance to sample Shit Real, you’re greeted with the catchy, shoulder-swinging, I Don’t Mind, where this upriser’s vibrant, slightly out-of-time raps (and I mean that respectfully)  completes the track. Message and Footprints offers a more angelic groove which can easily get a load of attention from commercial radio stations. Shit Real finishes on a high with personal favourite Ask For Much, where Chri’s DMX-esque, out-of -beat raps just tops the track.

In just six tracks, this out-of-sight upriser proves that he’s a true contender in the rap game with his well-craft productions…not to mention his out-of-sight raps – can’t wait for the next mixtape! To check out what all the fuss is about, you can check out the Shit Real right here.

Song of the Day: Out of Self – Darris Robins

Darris Robins Out of Self

Love hip-hop with aggressive rock? Well here’s a treat for you! Today’s song is Out of Self by St. Louis -born  experimentalist  DARRIS ROBINS.

From a very young age, Darris started experimenting with different instruments and his love for music lead to a place in a band at school…and a golden opportunity to met JETRO, a band player of the great late WHITNEY HOUSTON. Armed with some serious mentoring from JETRO, this hip-hopper makes no apologies for his fusion of hip-hop, funk and aggressive rock. He went on to release his album, My Beautiful Dark Freshman in College back in 2012, which highlights moving away from home for the first time and meeting new people. The 14-track album earned him local and national exposure plus  raving reviews across the web.

Now have a listen to Out of Self. This track truly displays his well-honed fusion of explosive hip-hop, funk and seriously aggressive rock – it’s truly MIND BLOWING.
