If you haven’t heard of MIKE BAGGZ, you soon will. After featuring on over 600 mixtape compilations and produced two mixtapes/albums, the hip-hop artist – whose real name is Micah Brown- has dropped another album Isolated and Faded. Released last month, the 17-track production display why this New Yorker is a force to be reckoned with.

Isolated And Faded kicks off with the out-of-this-world Role up With Me where you’re introduced to this unsigned artist’s faster-than-lightening raps over that easy riding beat. Further along the line, the album switches to up-tempo, beat swinging track Nerrrdwave and the electro dance, Toniht in Old English (featuring Ashley Martinez). With these tracks, I realised that this guy is no one-track pony – drop a classical beat and he’ll effortlessly rap to that!

Towards the end, the album definitely reaches a climax with old-school-inspired hip-hop/ smooth R&B tracks, Late Nights, Baby Its All on You, Nothing But A Number and lastly Love Me or Hate Me. An absolute must listen.

In 2012, MIKE BAGGZ gained recognition with his album, Catch 22. No doubt Isolated and Faded will continue to fuel this hip-hop upriser’s success.

Isolated and Faded is available on iTunes

Star Song: Dear Molly – Carmireli

Carmireli - dear mollyHigh energy Dear Molly is the latest single by singer CARMIRELI. The New Yorker has been on the music scene since the age of 18, working with music producer Tony Gross the founder GFI Music and Castle Nine Entertainment.

Now she’s signed up with Max Gousse’s new record label Artistry Entertainment Worldwide. Gousse, an ex- Def Jam Recording executive who worked with BEYONCE and P.DIDDY, saw a host of You Tube videos of CARMIRELI covering mainstream songs. He liked what he heard and BANG – Dear Molly was born!  Since its release the electro-pop dance floor filler has received untold amount of attention across the internet.

Dear Molly is CARMIRELI’s first release single from Artistry Entertainment Worldwide. It got me going, so it’ll be interesting to hear her future stuff! Check it out!

Star Song: LilMissFly6 – So Wonderful

Lady6- twitter mixtape vol 1

Today’s song is called So Wonderful by Seattle-based rapper LIMISSFLY6. This track is from her latest mixtape Twitter Tape Vol.1 released earlier this year. Let me tell you something, it was so HARD to pick a favourite from the mixtape –every single track (and I really mean EVERY SINGLE TRACK) is out of sight! After hours of listening, it was a tossup between So Wonderful and the super bad Automatic (featuring Andro Loud). In the end So Wonderful was chosen the song of the day as it is the PERFECT introduction this superfly rapper’s super cool raps over that summer-breezing track.

I don’t usually beg – but I’M BEGGING YOU NOW- listen to So Wonderful. Before I sign off, check out Everyone Was On It – another badass track! Oh what the hell, head over to her Bandcamp page and check out the whole mixtape!

Star Song: The Titus 1: 1-4 – Don’t Tread On Me (feat. Beatz Illthoughtz Productionz)

The Titus 1;1-4 don't tread on me

Today’s song is the hard-hitting Don’t Thread on Me by THE TITUS 1: 1-4. Rapping from the age of 13, THE TITUS 1: 1-4 – whose real name is Titus Brawley- never viewed it as a music career because it’s something he loves doing. Whilst most rappers of today speak of materialistic things, THE TITUS 1: 1-4    uses his talent to express his thoughts and concerns of the on-going issues in his community and feels that more issues could be raised through music.

So when you listen to this track, pay careful attention to the words that reflects the harsh reality of Afro- American society of today… don’t get lost in that catchy beat (I almost did!)

Star Song: S.GOLD – Timeless (featuring Azon Blaze)

s gold the stormToday’s song is called Timeless by superfly rapper S.GOLD. This track is the fourth release from his latest much-talked-about album, The Storm. The Storm was named one of the top North/South Carolina releases of 2012.

No doubt the success of the album will continue with Timeless. Produced by South American duo The Columbians, Timeless features that smooth 1990’s inspired R&B/hip-hop/after hours tone – unlike the previous bass-bursting releases- Going Nowhere, Say Hey and Do Whatchu Do (which feature some dope cuts from JERMAINE JACKSON’s 80’s hit Do What You Do).

Watch the video for Timeless and listen to how this artist’s raps just groove into that after hours beat –wicked! If you’re liking this track (and I bet you will), you can head over S.GOLD’s Bandcamp page and check out the album.
