EP Review: Further Away: Melanie Crew

melanie-crew

It’s been a little over a year since MELANIE CREW appeared on NEW LEASE MUSIC with her debut EP Until The End, which received airplay on BBC Radio 6 and BBC Kent. Now she’s back with her second EP, Further Away, released beginning of this month.

The London-based singer/songwriter reunites with her old faithful acoustic guitar, creating that rich, folky sensation and adds some soulful and sultry spice to her usual sweet and (respectfully) girl-like vocal range.

With therapeutic and occasionally soft uptempo soundscapes, Further Away EP is the perfect bet to start the week on a soothing note –  after a rowdy weekend.

Must Listens: Ghost, A Hundred Words, All That I Want.

EP Review: Chirality – XamVolo

xamzolo-chirality-ep

If you heard of XAMVOLO then you’ll certainly heard his leading soulful/jazz number, Down…and if you dig the single, well you’ll be in for a treat with his four-track EP, Chirality.

The laid-lack set is, by large, a continuation of Down – a hazy juxtaposition of the aforementioned genres, which showcase a Sade-level of class – and that’s REALLY hard to top.

With irresistibly hypnotic pieces that can be hailed as modern classics, this (clever) cool cat has positioned himself as a promising and timeless artist who will have music fanatics, all from generations, buying his future projects blind. If you’re not convinced, hit that play button.

Must Listens: Down, Gold Leaf

EP Review: One Six – J.Kas

J.KAS calls upon his fellow musicians Alicia Renee, Bee & Ruell for his third studio EP, One Six, with the determination of carrying the summer vibe into the autumn and winter months.

Released earlier this month, the six-track collection boasts an explosive journey of dancehall grooves, Latin flair, with some laid-back old school style R&B (think Usher) – and a kick-ass football anthem.

With such variety in this mini package, there’s bound to be a track that tickle your fancy…go on, why don’t you check it out!

Must Listens: I Do It, Cali Dreaming, To The Top

EP Review: CurrentSee – Raphael Blake

currentsee-rapael-blake

Following the roaring success of his debut conceptual mixtape, The Undergrad, RAPHAEL BLAKE finds his way back to NEW LEASE MUSIC and slams an innovative EP, CurrentSee.

Coming in the form of four striking visuals, the Nottingham spoken word emcee boldly takes on and elegantly spits the UK’s current affairs, including BREXIT, over the smoothest soulful soundscapes you’ll ever hear in the music industry of today.

The four-track video EP – which was written, filmed, recorded and edited within the 24 hour period (yep, you read right!) by the musical prodigy himself – will further cement his place on the major tastemakers’ playlist….Check out CurrentSee…not to be missed.
