Star Song: Something to Tell – Dice Cannon (ft King Dice O)

Dice Cannon

Today’s song is coming from DICE CANNON featuring KING DICE O.

Recently I featured DICE CANNON’s long-time collaborator KING DICE O with the release of the upcoming mixtape, The Life Vol.1.  Now he’s back featuring on his boy’s super smooth track, Something to Tell. This track features some crazy cuts from JANET JACKSON’s 80’s hit Let’s Wait Awhile. To top it off, you get to hear both of these guys’ smooth, bounce-to-the-beat-flow. They make it look so easy! Check it out! If you’re liking this track, you can head over to DICE CANNON‘s SoundCloud page where you can check out a collection of his tracks.

After working on his mixtape (in a dorm room), from November 2012 to March of this year, hip-hop upriser BLUNDER now presents Dorm Sessions. In his bio the New Yorker said there’s no concept to the mixtape – just a ‘complications of tracks that come of out those late night recordings’. Dorm Sessions is definitely a personal roller-coaster journey that life presents. There are lyrics full of love (especially for hip-hop), hate, fear, hope and uncertainty stretched over this 15-track production. It’s been quite a journey for the teenage unsigned rapper as he was diagnosed with a form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma called mediastinal large B cell, and he is currently undergoing chemo treatment.

His battle with the disease is documented in Rain Dance and Look of Love. These tracks deserve to be heard as beyond the personal journey, there are some undeniably dope beats topped BLUNDER’s faultless flow.

If you haven’t heard of this guy’s material, take time out and listen to the mixtape as there some seriously cool (and may I add very relatable) tracks that can become favourites in an instant (to be honest, it was a struggle to find my star song!) In Mean Something, hip-hop upriser raps about his upbringing and relationship with parents over a superfly, old school-inspired beats.

Dorm Sessions certainly don’t end in anticlimax as it takes on the love theme with super slick tracks All Night, Crew Love and SLUM-VILLAGE influenced  Timeless. In these tracks, you really get to witness and appreciate this guy’s second-to-none flow that perfectly grooves into each production.

In a nutshell, from start to finish, Dorm Sessions is absolutely wicked – a MUST listen. It’s been a rocky journey for BLUNDER to produce this mixtape – but with these well-polished tracks, it must have been worth the bumpy ride.

Star Song: Beautiful Sunrise – Nizell

Nizell who is he

Today’s song is Beautiful Sunrise by Canadian rapper NIZELL. This track is coming from his EP, Who Is He? released last year (by Built2Last Entertainment.)

NIZELL’s music journey stretched back to 2002, where he performed under the name TDOT. He released an album on an independent label which sold over 5,000 copies. NIZELL went on to work with a string of artists and producers in Canada and the US and has performed in Acapulco, Mexico, Calgary, London and Ontario. In 2006, he released his mixtape, TDot’s Finest Pt.1 followed by TDot’s Finest Pt.2 in the summer of 2011.

NIZELL re-established his sound with the release of 2012 mixtape, Like I Never Left (Built2Last Entertainment), which received raving reviews across the net. This guy kept on rolling as just a few months after the release of Like I Never Left, NIZELL dropped his latest EP, Who Is He? This ten-track production displays lyrics of personal experience, struggle and pain coupled with some seriously dope beats.

Take time out and listen to Beautiful Sunrise. If this is your first time listening to NIZELL, I bet it won’t be the last! More of his tracks are available on iTunes.

Star song: Started From The Bottom –Tjader

Today’s track is a cover of DRAKE’s hit, Started From The Bottom performed by upcoming British rapper TJADER.

The South Londoner started writing lyrics from the age of 15 as an outlet to release the pain from his rough upbringing. It wasn’t until years later that a friend encouraged him to start his first mixtape, Sweet Dreams.

As friends and family were cheerleaders, TJADER took his music more seriously and with the help with his school friend, he produced his first video to his track, Airmax and Levi’s.

If you’re really feeling this rapper, remember the name –TJADER – he has a mixtape in the pipeline! For now, head over to his SoundCloud page and listen to his other tracks – believe me, its well worth the visit!
