UK rapper Coops releases his long-awaited debut LP God Complex today, and drops a brand new video for his latest single Frankincense & Myrrh.

Having released his Lost Soul mixtape in 2014, with tracks including Chillin’ and Blessings, to critical acclaim from titles including Vibe, Wonderland and Earmilk, this new release is a welcome return for the North London MC whose emotional and thought-provoking music has captivated music fans across Europe, United States & Canada, Australia, South Africa, and South America.

New album God Complex touches on themes including self belief, spirituality and habits & vices. Production comes from regular collaborator Talos (More Time, Try Stop Us, Demons), 1drsy (Whoa, Complex, Windows) well recognised from his work on G frsh’s Alfie EP, up & coming producer Ollie Twist (Frankincense & Myrrh) and Coops himself (Water, Power).

COOPS has been on the taste-maker radar for a couple of years, having being named a one to watch by leading UK music sites SBTV and GRM Daily, and supported by key DJs including BBC Introducing’s Jen & Alley, Kiss FM’s Shortee Blitz, XFM’s Scroobius Pip and Capital Xtra’s Ras Kwame. In 2013 Coops supported hip-hop legend Nas at the O2 Arena in London, and Big Daddy Kane at The Jazz Cafe in 2015.

Brought up on the border of Hackney and Tottenham in North London, COOPS started writing when he was 17, saying it was one of the more positive and productive ways in which he and his friends would entertain themselves. He went on to study Performing Arts at Southampton University.

Song of the Day: The Heroine – Jovel

The heroine Jovel

Ahead of the release of his debut EP, The Void (out 20th June on iTunes), JOVEL teases us with the highly emotive single, The Heroine.

Following the turbulent tale of Katie, a girl JOVEL knew in his youth, The Heroine explores her addictions and struggles as a young, single mother. Played out like a spoken word poem, the track emerges as a heartfelt grime composition, steadied by a stark beat and alt-rock ensemble of guitars.

Never the one to settle inside the box, the London singer/rapper wants to make his EP as interactive as possible. Unveiled in 15 second episodes on his Instagram account (@jovelmusic), JOVEL has broadcast The Void: An Instagram Movie, a compilation of completely fresh footage that interlink the EP’s four tracks and videos together. Released fortnightly, each cut will continue a story that develops throughout the campaign. Giving his fans the chance to interact with the songwriter directly, The Void: An Instagram Movie is a unique and personal mark on the work that he has put into his new EP.

Haze Thinking out loud

HAZE drops his visual to his latest single, Thinking Out Loud, coming from his mammoth album of the same name, released last Monday. Alongside the album and video, the emcee also stars in and co-directed a short film with Sheridan De Myers

The 21-track album goes through different feelings and emotions and features other hugely respected UK Hip-Hop artists such as Akala & Black The Ripper on track Problems, J Spades and Whooli on Suttin About Me, Pakman on Follower Or Leader, and Irish soulful singer Maverick Sabre on Made In Love.

Haze has proved he can take his artistry to a different dimension, by joining together a film, album and music video. Based in London on a true story, the project represents the conflict of an artist torn between two worlds. The streets and his passion; aspiring to be a successful artist but having to do whatever it takes to support his dream & his family, which ultimately leads him to making the ultimatum decision.

Thinking Out Loud album is now available on iTunes…but for now, check out the video.

New Music Video: Divinity Machine – Crisis Renegade

Chris Renegade

CRISIS RENEGADE
is not a name you would have heard before, but after listening to his latest track, Divinity Machine, it’s not a name you’ll be forgetting any time soon. The hard-hitting banger is the first taste of his debut mixtape, Seizure Sessions, released earlier this month.

Allowing himself to shine on the 14-track mixtape, which doesn’t feature anyone other than himself, who takes you on a musical journey. Showcasing his diversity and talent as an artist as he puts his own twist on famous beats such as Pound Cake by Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s MAAD, his talents become further amplified as he rides out alone on original tracks like Left Brain and Slide Out.

Spending the majority of his youth in the studio writing and recording his own music, the cultural influences that have come from his emigration from London to Cyprus with his family when he was 13, chink through on occasion, giving a refreshing perspective to his bars.

It’s time to witness a GRIME star on the rise…check out the video to Divinity Machine.
