Jovel broken video clip

UK alternative rapper JOVEL slams down another new video this time for the powerfully emotional single Broken, coming from of his forthcoming The Void EP.

Set to the tone of chilling acoustic guitar, sparse percussion and soulful, R&B-esque vocals, the song follows the story of the promising upcomer at an all time low, wandering through the back alleys of London. The three-minute production has been part of Jovel’s The Void: An Instagram Movie , a series of short videos that interlink each of his EP’s singles.

The Void EP is set for release via iTunes tomorrow.

Song of the Day: The Heroine – Jovel

The heroine Jovel

Ahead of the release of his debut EP, The Void (out 20th June on iTunes), JOVEL teases us with the highly emotive single, The Heroine.

Following the turbulent tale of Katie, a girl JOVEL knew in his youth, The Heroine explores her addictions and struggles as a young, single mother. Played out like a spoken word poem, the track emerges as a heartfelt grime composition, steadied by a stark beat and alt-rock ensemble of guitars.

Never the one to settle inside the box, the London singer/rapper wants to make his EP as interactive as possible. Unveiled in 15 second episodes on his Instagram account (@jovelmusic), JOVEL has broadcast The Void: An Instagram Movie, a compilation of completely fresh footage that interlink the EP’s four tracks and videos together. Released fortnightly, each cut will continue a story that develops throughout the campaign. Giving his fans the chance to interact with the songwriter directly, The Void: An Instagram Movie is a unique and personal mark on the work that he has put into his new EP.

New Track: Pass Me By – Jovel

I have another smooth R&B number, in the form of Pass Me By, coming from singer and rapper JOVEL. The single is coming from his debut EP The Void, out next month.

Featuring a brooding yet soulful/trap arrangements, ‘Pass Me By’, a song that firmly focuses on depression and suicide. The four-minute production is a great insight into the four-track set as it further touches on the aforementioned issues and also covers topics such as addiction, loneliness and emptiness. With the newcomer’s hard-hittingly raw delivery, the project flips between waves of alternative R&B, soul, pop and hip-hop.
