The newly founded E.B Records is kicking 2017 off to a flying start, slamming down their second release only 3 weeks into the year. Showcasing an exciting roster that is nurturing a mix of regional UK talent, Nottingham’s DANNY DORITO and Eastbourne’s STOGEY go bar for bar in Grime banger ‘Lyrical Skengs’, produced by label mates Audio Slugs.

Launched on the airwaves by DJ Target on his last ever destination ‘Homegrown’ show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, the record pulsates with raw energy and hunger from the two upcoming emcees.

The track is the second in as many weeks that features STOGEY but is the first to introduce D Power’s newest discovery, DANNY DORITO. Having built a legacy within the scene that has seen D Power play crucial roles in the birth of the most influential Grime crews such as Boy Better Know, Nasty Crew, Roll Deep and More Fire Crew, as well as being the man behind the mighty Deja Vu FM, he is a master at picking out talent from a crowd and shining light on them.

An impressive record from the E.B Records team packed with vibes, bars and Lyrical Skengs.

New Track: Act Like You Know – VerseBorn

act-like-you-know

As the KonQuest Now label continues to release a deluge of dope music, ranging from party anthems to deep conscious mantras, recruit VERSEBORN drops an originally produced banger, Act Like You Know, calling out the fake acquaintances that only seem to come around or show support when the opportunity is the their favour.

The latest release is a distilled west-coast slap that will surely be heard bumping out of systems on repeat. The instrumental hits with the classic feeling g-funk baselines and captivating drum patterns, mixed with the unique flavor that only VERSEBORN could provide. The simple elements help construct an intricate path for the MC to demonstrate a tactile cadence, keeping the listener engaged into every metaphor.

Song of the Day: JPhilippe – No Reason

Over the last few months, I’ve witnessed female rappers on a serious mission to take the over game, determined to put their male counterparts to shame!

The latest hot property to be featured on NEW LEASE MUSIC is Jasmine Philippe aka JPHILIPPE.  Known for her gender-bending looks,  Haitian emcee represents her country with a string of bangers in the form of her latest album, Far And Few Between (available on iTunes).

No Reason is a great introduction to this hip-hopper’s album, as it features epic and attention-grabbing hooks, coupled with her no-nonsense delivery…you’re here now; you might as well hit the play button!
