New Track: Cave In – KYOTI
London-based art pop project KYOTI released their debut offering Cave In.
With a focus on narratives that tell of love, loss, isolation, madness, the sugary-sweet 80s-inspired song is about the past and the future, with a friendship caught in the midst. It addresses the increasing divide between people who have grown up together and is a plea to those who have moved on, sold up, and mellowed out, to remember where they come from.
Already confirmed a session at London’s Sofar Sounds and with further material in the pipeline, the trio will also prove their multiple talents with Cave In‘s accompanying monochromatic visuals, featuring nostalgic archive footage characterised by a mesmerising motif of hands in an echo of the single’s artwork.
Having forged their own paths individually across the disciplines of music, theatre, art and film, KYOTI bring a broad spectrum of influences to the table in their unification as a band. The result is a unique meeting of music and visuals that promises to resonate with any listener looking for a sweet escape.
New Track: Human – Lanre
In five days’ time, British singer-songwriter LANRE will hit you between the eyes with her powerful new single, Human, the first release from her forthcoming EP of the same name.
A strong acoustic drive makes its way to introduce the latest effort, leading into an unexpected marshmallowy fusion of soul/folk. Influenced by her Yoruba heritage, the captivating delivery contains compelling messages such as, ‘We’re all broken so that light can come in’, giving the most-worn out listener that glimmer of hope.
Born in Stoke-On-Trent in England, LANRE has spent most of her youth in Nigeria where she started singing and performing live from the age of eight. In 2002, the flamed-haired songstress toured around the globe as a member of award-winning UK collective GK REAL. This experience ignited in her the desire to pursue a solo career with the launch of the debut album Pen Voyage Chapter One: Singing For Change in 2011 followed by the critically acclaimed EP Home in 2014 (praised by MOBO, MTV UK among others).
Her new EP Human is set to be released on April 29th. This new record is a collection of uplifting songs, which encapsulates the essence and depth of this newcomer’s artistry. Relating the struggles and celebrations of life, Human is a hopeful hymn to togetherness. So if you like what you hear, pre-order your copy the EP with the immediate release of the single.
New Music Video Natty Boi – King Dice O

Upcoming Release: Shining – BRNFKD

Nowadays Records’ newest recruits BRNFKD are all set to release their eponymous debut EP on 22nd April, available on major music outlets. Leading single Shinning displays six and a half minutes of blissful fusion of deep downtempo plus hip-hop/trap-influenced vibes, featuring the hazy R&B vocals from Eli Sostre.
Behind those six special letters (pronounced – excuse my French – ‘brain fucked’) lurk two rising talents of the French scene: heavy trap range artist Ikaz Boi and prolific producer Monk, whose creative focus lies in more delicate soundscapes. Together, the two producers play with the codes of electronic and hip-hop music; merging aggressive percussion, deep bass, sharp kicks and ethereal synthesizers to craft an atmosphere that is all at once sensual melancholic and powerful.
Having performed in the past alongside hip-hop heavyweight Just Blaze, Ikaz Boi has collaborated with Amine Edge and DANCE on the Radio 1-playlisted Came Around as well as remixing and producing a plethora of rappers such as Vic Mensa and Leather Corduroys’ hit Have U Eva. With Monk also having seen success with a track release on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Electric 4, BRNFKD presents the perfect platform to see their talents amplified.
You read their credentials, now it’s time to sample the masters at work; check out Shining.
