Upcoming Release: Proton – Solsine (ft. Brownie & Santego)

Featuring the haunting vocals of Brownie and rapid fire delivery of rapper Santego, SLOSINE are on the verge of releasing their forthcoming effort Proton. Out on 7th September, the four-and-a-half minute production displays glacial soundscapes setting the backdrop for a noxious mix of garage basslines.

Formed in late 2014, the London-based duo dropped their first single Deeper  in March 2015. The second single Time quickly followed in May, gaining support from DJs Mike Delinquent (Kiss), Charlie Tee, TS7 (Kiss Fresh) and DJ Woody (Capital Extra) as well as being featured on numerous blogs including EDM.com, Chicago EDM and Insomniac.

Likened to the British electronic producers, Chase & Status, they have performed with NME, Kiss FM, reached No1 on The Hype Machine and remixed for artists including Florence And The Machine under different aliases.

To add to their short but impressive CV, the up and coming producers developed a close-knit group of featured artists and have collectively released with Island Records, Defected and Stealth as well as penning songs for Rudimental’s recent album and supported Laura Mvula and Ella Eyre.

In the last year they have performed at top London venues including Proud, 93 Feet East, The Stillery, Kensington Roof Gardens and South London’s answer to carnival, Brixton Splash.

After supporting acts such as The Smiths, Scroobious Pip and Russell Lissack (Bloc Party) and with a return visit to Ibiza Rocks this summer, 2015 is shaping up to be an exciting year for these beatmasters.

New Track! The Becoming – ICIE

The Becoming is the latest record from North London rapper ICIE, and comes off his brand new EP, The Phoenix.
The four-and-a-half production documents many struggles and dichotomies of masculinity that men must journey through in today’s society while accompanied by a shuddering beat by Johnny Juliano.
It seeks to celebrate the men trying their best to inhabit every role required of them, while serving as an open book for women to better understand their partners.
This is the lead single from the EP, and is out now on all digital platforms.

Upcoming Release: Release Me – The Phantom Sound

THE PHANTOM SOUND are ready to drop their latest effort, Release Me which is the 2nd single from their self-titled debut album out in October.

The indie rock/pop band is heavily influenced by frontman Marisa’s love for the late 70s and early 80s punk and new wave movements, gaining inspiration from artists such as David Bowie, Roxy Music, Blondie, The Ramones, and Duran Duran.

She’s been fortunate to work with several excellent and accomplished artists on this album. Ken Stringfellow of the Posies, Big Star, and R.E.M. is producing the album as well as playing on it. Clem Burke, drummer of Blondie, plays on several of the tracks and Pierre DeReeder, bass player from Rilo Kiley also contributes, among other talented musicians.

Her single, Get to Me, was the top voted song on Charlie Ashcroft’s Audition Show, and has had various radio plays around the U.S. and U.K. She wrote and recorded this album in Berlin, Amsterdam, London, and Paris. Originally from Los Angeles, Marisa now lives in London.

Release Me will be out in September…but for now, check it the striking video.

EP Review: Until The End – Melanie Crew

Melanie Crew

London-based singer and musician MELANIE CREW released her first ever EP, Until The End just ten days ago!

The guitarist and clarinet player displays all the qualities of  honing in potential listeners with the soothing presence of the lone acoustic guitar with sugary sweet and angelic vocals. It’s definitely a winning combination which somehow puts me in the mind of a lighter and chirpy version of Joni Mitchell. You’ll be a fool if you pass up on this six-track EP…go on, take time out and have a listen.

#TheMustListens: Hiding Away, Do You Know, Waiting For Someone.

Dynamic duo DISTANT LIGHT will be dropping  their new reggae-fused track Raggamuffin at the end of the month.

The producers hit the music landscape last year with their official remix of UK R&B singer Angel’s chart-topping track Wonderful. The garage number quickly got the stamp of approval from leading tastemakers, DJ EZ from Kiss 100 and BBC 1Xtra’s DJ Cameo. Their remix of Alpines No Other Lover was snapped up by Clash and further supported by Pitchfork gaining them further kudos in the musicsphere.

The two wasn’t afraid to work their magic on Ellie Goulding’s Beating Heart, Misha B’s Home Run and top 10 smasher All Cried Out by Blonde. Now these guys are ready to unleash their insanely Garage-fuelled effort with a heavy dose of reggae, thanks to reggae singer Conkarah.

Raggamuffin is out on 28th August.
