EP Review: House Above The Sun

house above the sun

Formerly known as The Healing, HOUSE ABOVE THE SUN have released their self-titled EP this week.

Following suit of their 2014 acclaimed EP, Childhood Home, the four-track offering displays a melodic presence of folk music that meets a real spine tingling, 70s-inspired rock – very reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac and Dr Hook. Sure to hit the spot with die-hard fans of these 70s cult bands.

Must Listens: Footsteps, Love’s Ugly Twin.

Negash

It’s not very often you come across hip-hop that displays such raw emotions, but somehow NEGASH ALI managed get the balance just right.

The Eritrean rapper, producer, singer and songwriter (now residing in London) released his second EP of the year Millennial Man. The four-track production features a compelling, downtempo drive, where the upriser lays his cards on the table and declare his mixed emotions of being in a big city…these ain’t no half-baked tracks, check it out NOW.

EP Review: The Dreamix Project – Dreama

The Dreamix Project

Continuing the run of on-point female emcees is DREAMA. Just ten days ago, the London-based alt-hip-hopper released her latest effort, The Dreamix Project.

The four-track collection have bursts of EDM trap and dubstep, topped off by this hot property’s faster-than-lightning flow. Reading this on paper, you may get the impression that the EP is brash and possibly invasive to the ears – but it’s the complete opposite: it’s seamlessly smooth, which somewhat feature a laid back 90’s vibe.

So if you want to challenge your musical taste, check this bad-boy package out.

MUST LISTENS: Game Face, Oceans Two

EP Review: Until The End – Melanie Crew

Melanie Crew

London-based singer and musician MELANIE CREW released her first ever EP, Until The End just ten days ago!

The guitarist and clarinet player displays all the qualities of  honing in potential listeners with the soothing presence of the lone acoustic guitar with sugary sweet and angelic vocals. It’s definitely a winning combination which somehow puts me in the mind of a lighter and chirpy version of Joni Mitchell. You’ll be a fool if you pass up on this six-track EP…go on, take time out and have a listen.

#TheMustListens: Hiding Away, Do You Know, Waiting For Someone.
