Australian rapper MILES GLYPERS unveiled his latest track, Dollar and a Dream, taken from the new EP, Third World Child.

In the four-minute smooth offering, Miles – originally from Ivory Coast – questions the real definition of the word home, a question prompted from his nomadic life as a youngster. The  alternative hip-hopper moved to Sydney with his family at the age of 11, after living in the New Guinea for a short while.

Just under two years ago, he released his debut mixtape Twisted Youth including the singles They are Free, Out of Time and Lake House, which were supported online by Noisey and i-D. He was also hailed ‘one to watch’ by Complex and is currently Sampa the Great’s favourite up & coming artist.

Upcoming Release: Played – Melisa Whiskey

melisa-whiskey

Overflowing with soul and emotion, Played is the rousing introduction to the velvety, caramel tones of MELISA WHISKEY.

A poignant reflection of a relationship, Played is both atmospheric and poetic, displaying Whiskey’s finesse as both a writer and singer.

The record is the first to be taken from her forthcoming debut E.P, due early 2017, which is the first release on her own label Whiskey Music. However, Melisa is no stranger to music and you may recognize her unmistakable vocals from the anthemic ‘Threshold’ by UK dance producer Redlight and ‘Searching’ from the house legend Roger Sanchez, both of which have been released over the last year.

Taking to her roots and influence, from the likes of Lauryn Hill, Sade and Amy Winehouse, Melisa’s own releases lay her expressive, soulful style bare and in full glory. Elements of vulnerability glint through and are met by the juxtaposition of the power and strength within her voice as the lyrics resonate.

Not to be missed…have a listen to Played.

unno-sirens

NEW LEASE MUSIC regular Awir Leon, J.Kid and Tismé aka – UNNO (The UNexpected NOte) – have just released their latest pop/avant-garde piece Sirens via French label Nowadays Records.

The latest release is the first single of their second EP Silence, which draws up in a swirl where the shooting melody and the trip hop/synth beat seizes the mind, and Awir Leon’s vocals dives into a universe made of mirages.

The band released their first EP As We Land and As We Land (Take Off Edition EP) – which includes a bonus new track and a remix by fellow Nowadays Records recruit BRNFKD.  With the forthcoming release of their second EP, UNNO continues to explore and experiment with layers of electronic/pop/trip-hop textures; a unique sound that only exists through the chemistry between the three personalities.
