Song of the Day: Someone Like You – Marcello Spooks (ft. LOLÈ)

Only a few months after his last single ‘Replace U’, MARCELLO SPOOKS is back with more ear candy in the form of ‘Someone Like You’.

From the get-go, the smooth electric piano combined with lush vocals from LOLÈ immediately sets mood right before the 808’s drop and Marcello reflects on past midsummer nights with an old flame.

Earlier this year, the East London MC teamed up with producer Maschine Man Tim to deliver the EP ‘All Time High’, riding the wave of success created by his 2016 single ‘Boom’ which has racked up an impressive amount of views and enjoyed support from the likes of BBC 1xtra, Pyro Radio and Fubar Radio, UKHH and Blurred Culture.

The video, directed by Jay Sentrosi and Eric Myers, is a work of art in itself, and sees Marcello Spooks reminiscing by The Thames riverside, as he flips through the pages of his book of rhymes. These calming visuals are juxtaposed with a more sinister scene which references the poisoned apple from Snow White.

Well here’s your chance to watch the video for ‘Someone Like You.’

Song of the Day: Rise and Fall – Fox In Oil

Today’s stunning single, ‘Rise and Fall’ is coming from the soft rock/pop foursome FOX IN OIL.

15-year-old member Daria Manakova’s vocals provide spine-tingling moments through the single, adding a real sensual modern R&B kick to the velvety pop/rock chic hooks.

Following the Russian band’s single ‘Madness’, ‘Rise and Fall’ is the second track from their album, ‘Snow Falls In The Sahara Desert’, released last Friday – check it out sometime. For now, iron out a stress-free day and hit the play button on ‘Rise and Fall.’

Song of the Day: Drifting – Escapism Refuge (ft. Zeb Samuels)

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to ESCAPISM REFUGE – one of the highly promising producers to burst up through Johannesburg’s burgeoning underground scene.

Earlier this month, he dropped an A-side double release, ‘Drifting’ and ‘Misfit’ via the indie label Deep Heads. After much deliberation, ‘Drifting’ was chosen as today’s top track for its floaty and spine-tingling combo of heavy hip-hop-esque drive and the sweet lick of the piano keys.

To date he’s released three hot EPs and won the praise of BBC 6Music’s Gilles Peterson, Soulection and Belgian’s Lefto. He also has a string of high-profile collaborations and a full LP in the pipeline…but for now, have a listen to the irresistibly good ‘Drifting.’

Song of the Day: This Is Not A Love Song – Bülow

17-year-old  Megan Bülow – simply known as BÜLOW – brings something effortlessly fresh to today’s hotspot with ‘This Is Not A Love Song.’

Her debut single is about the excitement of meeting someone for the first time – but  that feeling of excitement eventually imposes that question to commit. The essence of this song is to be honest with yourself – and not just going with the flow.

‘This Is Not A Love Song’ is the lead single from her forthcoming EP, ‘Damaged Vol.1’. Go ahead, check out it…and if you’re liking BÜLOW‘s avant garde pop number, she’ll be devoting her time to music…once she graduates next year – so look out for more of her projects on NEW LEASE MUSIC.

Song of the Day: Zoombies – Jay Boogie Bawse x Keet Kolbang

Beanstock Records recruits, JAY BOOGIE BAWSE and KEET KOLBANG, deliver something very spooky to today hotspot, packaged over a six-minute seriously head-rolling sizzler entitled ‘Zoombies’.

This one was for Halloween (yes, I know I’m late), but it doesn’t mean you can’t check it out now? Go ahead and press that play button…
