Song of the Day: Don’t Get Me Wrong (Cover) – Sophia Marshall

SOPHIA MARSHALL’s busy year continues with her latest release, ‘Smells Like Rubber’, a two-track homage to Chrissie Hynde, The Pretenders, living and working in a man’s world, and making no apologies for any of it.

‘Smells Like Rubber’ – who knows where that came from – but whatever the titular inspiration, it’s the songs that matter, and ‘Smells Like Rubber’, contains two classics from The Pretenders’ canon: ‘Don’t Get Me Wrong’ and ‘I Go To Sleep’ (the latter written by Ray Davies, but never recorded by The Kinks), both originally released in the ‘80s, and both utterly timeless.

‘Don’t Get Me Wrong’ make it to today’s Song of the Day spot for its spine tinglingly feather-light and rootsy treatment on a classic that became a top ten hit in the US and UK back in 1986.

New Music Video: Soliloquy to The Self – C.A.M

Following his acclaimed EP featuring videos ‘Act Like You Know’ and ‘Cold Soul’,  C.A.M keeps the momentum up, with ‘Soliloquy to The Self’.

Staying consistent with reflective and insightful content, the London emcee delivers picturesque lyrics and conceptual bars. Speaking of his newest offering, C.A.M explains: “Soliloquy to the self is based on my observation that in current times we lack the ability and courage to look deep inside ourselves.”

New Track: Space – Phebe Edwards (ft. Cameron Bloomfield)

PHEBE EDWARDS graces her presence on NEW LEASE MUSIC with her latest single entitled ‘Space’.

Laced with a feather-light combo of chillwave and R&B, the track showcases this London-based singer/songwriter’s well poised and soulful instrument, yearning for freedom from a trapped relationship.

This songstress is firm fixture in the music scene who has performed and toured with heavyweights including Liam Gallagher, Stormzy, James Brown, Adele, Jessie J, Donna Summer and Rita Ora, She was also featured on Craig David’s track ‘Focus’ from his latest album ‘The time is now’ which went straight to number 1 on Spotifys ‘New music friday’

As a solo act, Phebe scored some success with debut single ‘Say Suttn’ charted at number 14 in the iTunes R&B chart within hours of its release. To date her most current releases and tour support for renowned artists Gabrielle, Sam Bailey and Louisa Johnson have pushed her fan base to over 12k.
