Song of the Day: Funk With Me – Omega B

Today’s song is Funk With Me by Alabama-born singer/songwriter/emcee OMEGA B. This track is coming from her second album Soldier of Love, released earlier this year.

At the age of seven, she made her stage debut as lead guitarist with Blues Camp Kid and went on to travel across the southern state with the blues group as lead vocalist as well as lead guitarist. Despite her impressive early career, her greatest moment was sharing the stage with B.B. KING.

Drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists: KRS-ONE, SADE, ERYKAH BADU, TRIBE CALLED QUEST, QUEEN LATIFAH , BOB MARLEY, and OUKAST, the female emcee continue to grow as a guitar player and singer. There’s on end to this girl’s talents – she’s also a poet, activist, producer, disc jockey, and a painter. Man, where does she find the time to make this video! Take a listen to the seriously funky. Song of the Day: Lion Hearted (feat. Blessid) Young Bitiouz

Today’s song is Lion Hearted by Detroit -born hip hopper YOUNG BITIOUZ.

A great lover of music from a very young age, YOUNG BITIOUZ started forming his own sound whilst in high school. He was part of a group called Lyrical Militia and released an EP, Lyrical Warfare in 2012. He went on to releas his mixtape, Too Much Ambition under the former rap name Ambitiouz in the same year.

Album review: Barnegat – Tdel2

The man behind TDEL2, Tony DeLuca has released his debut full-length album Barnegat last month, which offers 13 tracks of beautifully-complex melodies, mixing acoustic with electronic elements with, on occasions, feather-light vocals.

Although Barnegat is an electronic indie rock production, I couldn’t help notice a hint of perhaps 80’s pop chucked in there, which kind of remind me of A-HA, NEW ORDER and DURAN DURAN rolled into one.

Barnegat starts off easing into the pleasantly-light/feel-good Counting Trees and & USBs and the equally fresh Fearless Youth, where the occasional crisp, A-HA-esque vocals floats throughout these songs. The album also features instrumental tracks Kenwood (where you’re greeted with the lo-fi melody then suddenly hit with the raging guitars); electro pop, Two Systems, Greta and In Your Mind. I felt these tracks would benefit from that refreshingly light vocals featured in Counting Trees & USBs and Fearless Youth.

Barnegat regained its high with 80’s inspired electro pop Running ( the crisp and now echoic vocals returns, which is much welcomed) and the dauntingly-light, attention-grabbing Neon Keys.

Overall Barnegat, makes pleasant listening. The album takes you on a rollercoaster journey with well produced, 80’s -influenced soothing mixture of high/low melodies.
