New Track: Sunshine – Currin

NEW LEASE MUSIC has, yet again, unearthed another diamond from the overcrowded underground scene, this time coming in the shape of Olivia Duell – aka CURRIN.

Her latest single, ‘Sunshine’ sits on a bed of airy electronic overtones, conveying the feeling of being in a stable place, driven by the almost jarring downtempo bass which brings on that nagging inkling that something soon is going to go horribly awry.

CURRIN – the middle name of her great-grandmother and the maiden name of her great- great grandmother – plans to debut a new song a week on her Soundcloud and Patreon, where she will be largely experimenting with sparkly, Spyro the Dragon-esque compositions – so expect racy lo-fi/electronic-dominated numbers with jarringly bold sounds.

In addition to her weekly releases, the former member of folk/rock band Titmouse also plans to release an EP and music video this summer…with perhaps a few mixtapes in between…

For now, start your weekend right and press play on ‘Sunshine.’

New Track: A Ways Away – Jonny Dee

As he gears up for the release of his album, ‘The Human Experience’, JONNY DEE slips his first installment, packaged in the one-of-the-kind track entitled ‘A Ways Away’.

the San Diego rapper’s otherworldly delivery cruises along with unique brand of psychedelic hip-hop, complimented by the running pace of the piano keys, which gives the entire arrangement a refreshing bluesy/De La Soul-esque feel.

For those who love hip-hop on another level, check out ‘A Ways Away’…and if you’re feeling this track, be sure to look out for this forthcoming album, set for release 12th May.

New Music Video: Honey Dew – Lion Babe

Jillian Hervey and Lucas Goodman – aka LION BABE – have released a mesmerising and epic visual for their latest single ‘Honey Dew’.

Shot in New York’s Taconic Sculpture Park and directed by Chalalai Fischbach and Jett Cain with creative direction from LION BABE, the hazy/ cinematic clip is another stellar example of the dazzling creativity that has set the duo apart in their own league, since they first burst onto the scene with their debut track and visual for the modern classic ‘Treat Me Like Fire’.

The visual follows the release of a set of brand new remixes for their two latest tracks ‘Rockets’ (feat Moe Moks) and ‘Hit The Ceiling’ which saw ‘Rockets’ (feat Moe Moks) given an urgent, Afrostep remix by mOma+Guy and a sultry and soulful update from Simen Sez, whilst ‘Hit The Ceiling’ was given an addictive dance-funk remix from Zikomo and received the remix treatment from legendary dance producer and DJ Kenny Dope.

‘Honey Dew’ was released last month and is taken from LION BABE’s forthcoming project which is out later this year…for now, check out the video…

Mixtape Review: 3 Eleven – The DayDreamers

Just a little over three months after releasing their sneak preview project, ‘Meanwhile: The EP’ – plus their track ‘TBH?’ back in February – hip-hop trio THE DAYDREAMERS are ready to go all hard once again, with their brand new full-length mixtape ‘3 Eleven’.

From the offset, the mammoth collection greets you with their new-found hooks that make the toes curl involuntarily with skips of dub-heavy bass making its presence, slowly but surely, known. Although the forceful drive cries for attention, the real stars of the show are the uprising emcees’ delivery which vibes along the variety of beats that’s thrown at them, while shedding light on biographical accounts of their lives.

With recent releases, including this EP, showing a sharp improvement these guys are on a serious come up. Check out ‘3 Eleven’ below:
