With production credits for UK rap legend Lowkey, Tournier, rising UK R&B songstress BINA (The Fader, The Pit LDN), Awate (Noisey, BBC 1Xtra, The Line Of Best Fit) and Unsigned Music Award nominated songstress Davina Oriakhi, as well as previous support from the likes of Earmilk, GRM Daily, The Pit LDN, and SoulBounce, for his production work, London producer and musician JUST RYDER slips through his brand new single titled ‘Go’, alongside Tournier, IzzyOT, and Ghanaian rapper Pure Akan.
An international collaboration spanning London, Manchester and Accra, ‘Go’ sees Just Ryder bringing together the disparate musical influences of UK Drill and the eastern-style strings that soundtracked his upbringing as a child of immigrants, supported by driving drums and a grooving bassline that pierce through a soundscape of synths. Through this, he creates a concoction in which heavyweight drill harks back to the sampling of Middle Eastern music by producers such as Timbaland and Scott Storch in the 90s and 2000s. Song of the Day: Element & Moderate – Feverkin
Detail-focused producer FEVERKIN‘s latest single, ‘Element & Moderate’ released via the Deep Heads imprint. ‘Element & Moderate’, is the first single to be released from the record label’s new compilation, Cosmic Vibrations Vol. 4, which will be released on the 26th of May.
A composer and producer residing in Portland, Oregon, Feverkin is the musical alias of Adam Orfale. Feverkin crafts his sound by sampling, morphing, and arranging recordings of traditional instruments. Drawing inspiration from Trip Hop, Future Garage, Lofi, Jazz, and Classical music, Feverkin strikes a unique balance between melody and beat, resulting in instrumentally-driven downtempo music that is both organic, glitchy, and moody. He takes inspiration from Burial, Alaskan Tapes, and Synkro to create music in the same vein as Òlafur Arnalds, Phaeleh, and Nightmares On Wax.
The beat work of ‘Element & Moderate’ is precise and intricate. As one might expect from a Feverkin recording, an array of instruments are scattered around the production. Upright Piano and Cello are just some of the many live elements incorporated in this incredible piece, not to mention loads of floating frequencies in which to lose oneself.
Feverkin tells us about the song: “‘Element & Moderate’ is about being at a crossroads and knowing the difference between which path you want to take and which path you need to take. This song started with a nearly 10-year-old recording of my friend playing the drums in a warehouse/office space. I edited and looped a particular part that had a vibe and built the song with the beat being the focus.”

Jason Griff Makes A Quick Return And Presents ‘Fireside Chats 2’ Album
A year and a half after releasing his critically-acclaimed Fireside Chats album, producer JASON GRIFF is back again with ‘Fireside Chats 2’, flipping punk rock songs into scorching beats featuring over 20 of the best artists in indie rap. Familiar voices such as Defcee and Curly Castro return on the second installment as well as new collaborations with artists like AJ Suede, Fatboi Sharif, Brian Ennals and more.
The Fireside Chats projects are inspired by Griff’s love of the punk rock scene in Chicago in the late 90s, when he often made the trip from the far reaches of the Northwest suburbs to the Fireside Bowl on Fullerton Ave. The iconic bowling alley-turned venue-turned bowling alley again is featured on the cover of the album. Griff came up with the idea to flip punk rock samples during a time when producers were so heavily leaning into flipping soul samples, and he wanted to do something he felt was new and unique to the world of sample-based hip-hop. The result was Fireside Chats.
The second instalment in the series leans more heavily into the collaborative spirit than the first. Eight of the ten songs feature more that one rapper, often highlighting fresh pairings that we have yet to hear, e.g Brian Ennals and Alex Ludovico on ‘KetaMegan’ and Bobby Noble (of PenPals) and Love, Ulysses on ‘Laser Eyes.’ The album is also fortunate to include another posthumus verse from the late Lorde Jones Scorcese, as he pairs with longtime friend and collaborator NiceyMost on the banger ‘PB & J Flow (Ode to Dipset).’ Scorcese had originally recorded the song for the first Fireside Chats, but it was withheld from the album after his passing in order to include it on Fireside Chats 2.
Also featured on this murderer’s row of indie rap talent are Ace Cannons, Teller Bank$, Billa Camp (Low Down Brass Band), King Micah the Infamous, Doampeace (DXA), Rapswell (PenPals), Alaska (Hanger 18, Def Jux), Zilla Rocca, andrew and Jesse the Tree.
