Song of the Day: Get Up Now – Zoe & Zara

zoe and zara

Having enough energy to cure the world of all negativity (described by a host at Cafe Concerto) sparked the formation of London-based soul/jazz duo ZOE & ZARA.

The twin sisters waste no time and released their debut smooth soul effort, My Man and follow-up upbeat and melodic single, Beat Up in My Head. Continuing their pattern of soulful, feel good music, latest releases include Get up Now and Cool Love.

The singers/songwriters are currently working on their EP at the Roots Over Rock studio in Waltham Cross whilst also performing at a string a of venues and festivals in the most trendy parts of London,  including Passing Clouds in Dalston, Music Is My Drug in Shoreditch and Bounce Festival in Richmond Upon Thames.

Before the formation, Zara entered the Jazz realm and performed on the London scene between 2009-2010. At this time Zoe performed within theatre, winning an award for ‘Outstanding Performance’ at the 2010 Leatherhead Drama Festival.

So if you’re having a stressful Friday, these guys will take care of that…have a listen to Get Up Now.

New Track! Like I Do – Shinobi (ft. LDizz)

Shinobi Like I Do

Continuously representing the northern underground music scene, SHINOBI just slammed his brand new track Like I Do.

The explosive banger sees the Sheffield grimester spitting bars over a murky Sticky Blood instrumental that draws on the early days of grime, made up of a racing backline and jerking synth fuelled beat, while fellow Sheffield MC LDizz drops  an energetic verse.

The co-founder of A.O.K (All Out Krew) and Sheffield-based online radio station, UK Mondo recently enjoyed success with the Sheffield hip-hop collective Clubs & Spades, made up of fellow MC Matic Mouth and producers Andy Nicholson and Jamie Shield. Their track Clearer Coast was made Record of the Week by Charlie Sloth on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Record of the Day online and hit radio playlists throughout the UK. SHINOBI‘s solo release is set to make serious waves among music critics and fans.

Like I Do is available now via iTunes…but for now, check out the video.

Upcoming Release: New Man – Warme

New Man Warme

British five-piece rock outfit WARME takes a detour with their forthcoming single, New Man, taken from their album, Council House Opera out on 25th February.

Usually taking on the image of the Gallagher-esque two finger salute, the Bradford rockers venture into a more sentimental side of rock music. Featuring trance-like vocals with the alluringly hypnotic guitar riffs, their follow-up to previous effort, Council House Opera, is suited for those winter months ahead.

Band members Lee Walsh, Craig Hamilton, Jamie Hamilton, Macauley Haywood and Lewis Knight have been making their way up step by step, from supporting musicians such as Arthur Brown, Henry Rollins and The Strypes to playing in front of up to 25000 people at festivals. These down-to-Earth guys will be on the road again on 8th April at Star of Kings in Kings Cross, London. For further information on gigs, take a trip to their website.

New Man is set for release on 12th February…for now, watch the video

It wasn’t that long ago since  KING DICE O was featured here with Pain of Fortune (recently named Song of the Week by NEW LEASE MUSIC).

The New York emcee has no time to kick back and relax and instead join forces with fellow emcees DICE CANNON and JUICE CANNON (who also provided the beats to the track) for the making of the music video to laid back golden hip-hop effort, Lounge Music. So go ahead, watch the video, sit back and just lounge to it!

Lounge Music is taken from KING DICE O‘s forthcoming album, The Life Vol. 2 (The Quiet Storm), set for release 24th January.

New Track! Until The Day – The Bakery Boys (ft. The Thirst)

The latter part of 2015 has been kind to brothers Shack and Ace Boogie and long-term friend Dirty Dre – aka – THE BAKERY BOYS. The previous single Get Away, was named 1Xtra’s Track of the Week. Not becoming too complacent of their recent triumph, the boys dropped another track, Until The Day.

Their latest effort offers words of inspiration, urging youngsters to reach their goals. The four-minute slick banger features indie  band The Thirst’s Mensa Hart and Lock Laser who is the brother Shack and Ace. It comes to no surprise that the brothers formed a strong bond for music as their father was in the 90s cult group, Soul II Soul.

Apart from making waves on the music scene, supporting the likes of Big Sean and Labrinth and performing  twice at the Wireless Festival, these guys have their fingers in more than one business pie. Their fashion label,  Justin Hustlin, was the fast selling streetwear on ASOS and their social organisation Justinspire, sees them mentoring and volunteering in their local community – breaking down misconceptions that rappers are all about the money and honies!

Until The Day will be released from tomorrow…but for now, watch the video and soap up some words of wisdom.
