Song of the Day: Scars – SAVARRE

Hailing from New York, avant-garde ‘Spectra Rock’ outfit SAVARRE’s latest single ‘Scars’ is a passionate ode for anyone who has bounced back stronger than ever from a traumatic experience. Savarre is fronted by multi-talented singer-songwriter, composer, playwright, and novelist Shannon Denise Evans, whose perfectly soaring vocal performance would deeply resonate with each and every one of us. The real message of the song there is not to look back on the bad experience with anger but to go forth with pride, proudly presenting the scars from that journey.

Shannon shares, “For me, the experiences that created my scars made me stronger, smarter, and more resilient. I wear my scars proudly now; they are markers on a path that led me back to myself.”

‘Scars’ is now available on all music platforms, including Spotify. Follow Savarre via Instagram to know more about them and upcoming ventures.

Gina Naomi Baez Shares Beautifully Raw Single, ‘Stick Around’

Featuring delicate piano melodies, heart-wrenching lyrics and echoing back vocals, GINA NAOMI BAEZ‘s brand new single, ‘Stick Around,’ explores the feeling of being undeserving of love, care and attention. It asks the question how someone could choose to stick around for another, even through the toughest and worst times.

The New York songwriter confides, “Showing your truth is such a vulnerable state and when you find someone who embraces you at your best and lowest …well…that is rare and something you should protect at all costs.” The song was originally just one verse and a chorus written and shared on TikTok, however after realizing that the song resonated with so many people, Baez decided to complete and produce the entire song.

Baez has also seen great success with her YouTube channel which has built an impressive following. Her infamous “Lizzo’s Truth Hurts x Hocus Pocus” parody music video went viral after LIZZO herself reposted it, as well as Bette Midler. The channel features creative, unique original music videos, covers and parodies of popular songs and has garnered worldwide recognition from the likes of PEOPLE, Entertainment Weekly, Access Hollywood, The Huffington Post, MTV, Perez Hilton, FOX, E! ONLINE, Ryan Seacrest, Yahoo News!, Stylist and much more.

The emotive songbird also has a flourishing acting career, featuring in Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It, Orange is the New Black and most recently CBS’s FBI.

‘Stick Around’ is out now on all download and streaming sites. Have a listen below…

East Hampton Polo Boys Pays Homage To Lorde Jones Scorcese With Album, ‘Winter Catalogue’

Prior to his untimely passing last year, Lorde Jones Scorcese was hard at work crafting Winter Catalogue with producer Panels as East Hampton Polo boys. On 14th January, the anniversary of his passing, Insubordinate Records released the Winter Catalogue album featuring guest appearances from Eddie Kaine, Lord Juco, Zilla Rocca, Rahiem Supreme, Doof and Alaska.

Following in the footsteps of 2020’s Summer Catalogue, the album features decadent sample based textures provided by Panels which Scorcese lyrically dances around while delivering his patented brand of deliberate, layered wordplay full of witty references to sports, fashion, dope-dealing and pro wrestling.

East Hampton Polo Boys were born from a stylish, yet hapless tag team from Monday Night Raw, and represent the sometimes fruitless pursuit of excellence. It is Saks 5th Avenue meets 80s era Brooklyn Lo-Lifes.

The album comes complete with Scorcese’s vision of a full line of fly embroidered merch: hoodies, crewnecks, beanies, scarves, joggers and more. It’s also available in limited quantities on CD and 4 different cassette designs with art by SquatDeadFace and Cassettes Hotel.

Winter Catalogue is now available at insubordinaterecords.com and also available to stream on all streaming platforms. Check it out below…

Song of the Day: Amapiano – Juice Cannon

JUICE CANNON’s single ‘Amapiano’, depicts a tale when love is not replicated, over a smooth afterhours blend of Afrobeats, Hip-Hop and R&B. For anyone who has been in a relationship that’s going nowhere, Juice Cannon drives home the message that rings throughout the track – don’t get played like a piano.

Born in Nigeria, Juice Cannon, who currently resides in New York, has a solid music career, stretching back to 2010, making his mark in New York’s underground Hip-Hop scene. Seven years into the game, he decided to change direction and experiment with various sounds through his mixtape, ‘Sugarwater’, which garnered over 100K streams, thanks to his breakthrough single from the set, ‘Naija Girls’.

Armed with an impressive discography which earned him over 500k to date, Juice Cannon is aiming to create the same buzz on the international stage – just as he did in the Big Apple and across the USA.

Song of the Day: La La La – Rayne Storm (ft. Sticky Fingaz)

RAYNE STORM is back with a trail of singles (‘La La La’, ‘Old School, New School’ and ‘All Along’) coming off his upcoming album ‘AudioCity’. The project is described as a triple threat of collabs with Sticky Fingaz of Onyx, Swifty Mcvay of D12 & DMC of the iconic Hip-Hop group Run DMC.

Making it to today’s top spot, ‘La La La’ speaks on the effects of growing up around guns and gun violence with Sticky Fingaz doing double duty with a featured verse and chorus. With straight forward and honest lyrics, the track doesn’t glorify nor run from its truths and descriptive nature.

‘La La La’ makes a great introduction into Rayne’s album slated for release 21st February…but for now, get tuck in on the track below…
