New Track: Overtime – Adian Coker

Following the recent release of ’24 Carat’, ADIAN COKER shares his brand new effort ‘Overtime’, the second single from his forthcoming EP ‘Buena Vistas’, to be released June 2nd on Kitsuné.

‘Overtime’ certainly reflect his busy schedule as the three-minute inspirational smasher documents the long hours he spent investing in, not just only his dreams and aspirations, but for others from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The London-based spitter has always been involved in community work – from working at Youth Clubs, participating in workshops for various charities to supporting social causes such #BlackLivesMatter last year and recently the #ZeroDiscrimination movement for which he recorded a touching video poem that the United Nation on released on Zero Discrimination day (watch here.)

But before you head off, have a listen to ‘Overtime.’

New Track: $ – Sofi De La Torre

Spanish alt-R&B singer SOFI DE LA TORRE is back after the outstanding success of last year’s ‘Flex Your Way Out’ ft Blackbear single, with new track ‘$’.

With her sound described by i-D as “the swagger of Drake fused with a laid-back Lana vibe”, ‘$’ is an alt-pop slow jam about a relationship ruined by the need to impress with wealth – a superficial love. ‘$’ sees Sofi take a leaf out of J Lo’s book as she explains how you cannot buy her love, her ‘Love don’t cost a thing’.

Sofi’s moody vocals roll in with a strong message to her ex, “f**k ya money I don’t care about it”. The statement sets the tone for the single, yet her dreamy vocals in the chorus combined with the slow jam pop/R&B instrumental, reveal an undeniable vulnerability, a natural feeling at the end of a relationship.

The track was written and produced with her long-term Finnish producer Jonas Karlsson who has worked with her on many of her past successes, the first being ‘Vermillion’ which saw her garner support from Billboard, Time Magazine and The Guardian whilst Sofi’s debut album ‘Mess’ received praise from Noisey and Pop Justice. Her previous single ‘Flex Your Way Out’ feat. Blackbear saw her first spin from BBC Radio 1 courtesy of Jamz Supernova.

With the accompanying visual to ‘$’ on its way and her long-awaited debut record expected this spring, 2017 looks set to see SOFI DE LA TORRE cement her position within the empowering female-fronted scene.

Music Video Premiere: Romeo Must Die – Dolla$ignDunn

A month after the release of latest track, ‘Romeo Must Die’, DOLLA$IGNDUNN has just dropped the accompanied video for the banger.

The vintage-effect visual features the New Jersey spitter in the middle of basketball court, dropping some gem advice of becoming a player, through his seamless flow. The four-minute production also feature clips of the classic crime thriller, ‘Romeo Must Die’ (2000), starring Jet Li and the late Aaliyah.

This one is too good pass up…watch the video for ‘Romeo Must Die…and remember, you saw it first on NEW LEASE MUSIC.

EP Review: Slow Burn – Wolf Kash

It’s pretty hard to conceive that last Christmas, 24-year-old producer Jordan Saward and his 14-year-old brother Harry – otherwise known as WOLF KASH –  came up with compositions that are so complex, forming their debut EP, ‘Slow Burn’, released late last month.

The four-track set is on par with Model’s ’86 EP, ‘When You Realise…’, as it possesses (at times) insanely juxtaposed electronic rhythmic overtones, carried by a mammoth downtempo drive, giving each production that alternative dance/soulful-ish vibe. Quite ingenious really; it’ll be great to see the duo’s next move.

Take a step into the unexpected and sample ‘Slow Burn’ EP.
