Song of the Day: He Ain’t Me (Remix) – Ricardo Williams (ft. Lioness)

RICARDO WILLIAMS returns with a big BANG with his second (remix) single ‘He Ain’t Me’, premiered on radio via DJ Ace on BBC 1Xtra.

Produced by Sillkey(Wiley, Jacob Banks, Vanessa White) the remix takes you through a journey of clever wordplay from the opening verse by Lioness through to the catchy and fun summer vibe of the track. This remix proves Ricardo’s versatility and truly displays him as arguably one of the brightest current R&B artists from the UK.

Talking about why he decided to do a remix, Ricardo says “I wanted to show a different side of me but also give people something they can dance to. Not to mention I’ve been a huge fan of Lioness for years and when I heard her DBT remix I knew instantly I had to get her on this track!”

The remix follows ‘He Ain’t Me’ and  Ricardo’s last single ‘Come Over’ which was featured as DJ Ace’s Track of The Week on BBC 1Xtra. He partnered with fellow R&B peers J Warner, Jordan King and Mark Asari for the remix which premiered on BBC 1Xtra. Support was also received from Manny Norte on Capital Xtra, The Beat London, Pulse88 Radio, Reprezent, Westside FM, Ronnie Herel and MiSoul radio.

2018 has already been a big year with the release of new music and various live performances, including supporting Faith Evans on her UK tour (London, Birmingham and Manchester)

New Track: A Rotterdam Trip (Diplomatic Immunity Freestyle) – Adilson Evora

It’s been sometime since Rotterdam spitter ADILSON EVORA appeared on the blog. However he back with a bold -ass track entitled ‘A Rotterdam Trip’.

Oozing an instantly likable retro hip-hop vibe, Adilson showcases that hip-hop is alive and kicking in Europe, while giving the listener a tour through his hometown Rotterdam.

Speaking of his latest release, Adilson says: “This track is part of the Student of Life series. Student Of Life will be a returning concept where i will showcase my journey into becoming a better artist and person in general. Containing rare songs and freestyles that wouldn’t make it on a project and would most likely only be heard through my speakers at home. S.O.L is about seeing beauty in rawness, perfection in imperfection and embracing flaws and valuing it as being part of the growth.”

Formerly known as Concept, ADILSON EVORA first came onto the scene with self-produced EP ‘From Sunup Till Son Down’ in 2014 and has since performed across his hometown, Germany and Russia, well as receiving airplay on MTV in Portugal.

Witness another newcomer – on – the – rise and check out ‘A Rotterdam Trip.’

EP Review: Suburban View – Sub Blue

Don’t mean to give the game away too early here – but you’re going to read about one of the most promising artists coming out of the UK – SUB BLUE. Just the announcement of his latest EP thrilled me with excitement…cannot believe it’s taken me so long to write a review – but here goes…

At such a young age (I think he’s in his early twenties), the liverpublican mastered his spin on R&B, incorporating mostly atmospheric electronic, hip-hop-esque (as featured in track ‘Summer’) and experimental tones. I have to admit I was expecting some of the moody and bluesy stuff from his previous offerings ‘Hype Like Supreme’. However ‘Take A Picture’ filled that personal satisfaction with its tilitating take of 90s R&B (think Usher).

Having said that, the experimental tones  are a great contributor to this set and sees the youngster pushing the boundaries a little further with the soulful genre. This guy is not to be tossed away by the wasteside – and nor is his EP.

Check – him  – out – below:

Must Listen: Take A Picture, Summer

New Track: Beast Boy – Jay Portal x DBLCRSS

Hailing from Hamilton – a city in Ontario – DBLCRSS and JAY PORTAL are hell-bent on injecting some serious fire into their hometown’s near non-existent hip-hop scene with brand new single,  ‘Beast Boy’

Although their latest effort is a hip-hop track that boasts an infectiously boisterous bass, the Canadian youngsters wanted to produce accompanied visuals that’s not the typical rap video – so there’ll be no feature of video babes twerking in the clubs with champagne poured all over them (sorry guys!)

‘Beast Boy’, the first release from their debut EP ‘Hell Is Where The Heart Is’, out now on all streaming/downloading sites.
