New Track: Bioluminescence – ZT

Zachary Taylor – or ZT– always had a fascination with underground hip-hop – but it was J. Cole’s’ mixtape, ‘Friday Night Lights’ that ignited this upriser from Fairfax (Virginia) to start rapping and penning lyrics on school notebooks.

Now he’s making himself known and drops his brand new conscious track entitled ‘Bioluminescence’. Oozing the smoothest soundscapes you’ll probably ever heard, the latest offering act as a wake call to those who are completely blinded to what’s going on around them.

Also know as the Kale Gawd – because of his love for vegetables – ZT went on to become a frontman/lyricist for a rap-rock band called Where’s Zach? before going solo. Taking his rap journey to a new chapter, ZT is working on his EP called ‘Everything but the Kitchen Sinks’.

If you don’t know this guy, get to know him…check out ‘Bioluminescence.’

New Music Video: Pain Killer – Torii Wolf

Premiered on Billboard, TORII WOLF‘s video for, latest single ‘Pain Killer’ documents the past struggles she has endured.

Produced by OVO’s Mike Zombie (of Drake’s ‘Started From The Bottom’ & DJ Khaled’s ‘They Don’t Love You No More’ featuring Jay-Z, French Montana, Meek Mill & Rick Ross fame), ‘Pain Killer’ is the audio equivalent of an opioid, replete with Torii’s pleas to euthanize her anguish, yet so ultimately stimulating it creates a high you can’t stop craving.

Speaking of her  latest single, Torii explains: “If anyone has ever had any substance abuse problems, or has used in the past at all, you feel this feeling of needing something. This dependency on getting high and these drugs, so to speak, are what we need so badly; end up turning on us,” Torii commented to Billboard. “They don’t care about us is what it feels like, you use them too much, it ends up biting you and hurting you either way. You need to get high and the only thing that can get you high is that drug and sometimes you’re high and it still doesn’t feel good anymore. And the same thing with a person–some relationships feel that way.

‘Pain Killer’ is from her solo debut EP ‘Flow Riiot’, released via DJ Premier’s TTT (To The Top) imprint. The 15 track collection is now out on all digital platforms.

But for now, it’s time to check out the video…

New Track: Caroline – Shaefri

‘Caroline’ definitely hits a raw nerve with London-based singer/songwriter SHAEFRI. With atmospheric soundcapes coupled with the stunningly soft/heartfelt vocals, the latest single tells the story of witnessing someone close hitting the self-destruct button – and feeling powerless to save them.

On her most personal release to date, SHAEFRI explains: “I wrote Caroline the day after I received a phone call saying someone close to me was in hospital after overdosing. I cried the whole day but I was also so angry with her for letting it happen. I was so afraid for her life. I felt guilty for not being there when it had happened, that I couldn’t stop her from doing it, and no longer being able to help. Every time it happens, there’s less of a person left to put back together.”

Following the success of previous releases, ‘Pixelate’, ‘Monster, ‘Rabbit Hole’, and ‘Give It All’, SHAEFRI has seen an influx of support from Clash, DIY, and Hattie Pearson at Radio X, whilst her unique brand of haunting vocals and minimalistic beats have seen sold-out performances at venues, such as The Old Blue Last and Notting Hill Arts Club.

‘Caroline’ is the last installment of her EP ‘Cracks’…have a listen to this powerful piece…

New Track: Falling – Turya

After the cult success of her debut single ‘Rain’, singer, songwriter and composer, Nicki Wells – aka – T U R Y A  returns with a brand new single ‘Falling’ released last Friday. This is the second release taken from her forthcoming debut album ‘Ocean’.

‘Falling’ reveals a more honest, darker side compared to the ethereal, bittersweet debut. Steeped in melodic and lyrical poignancy, ‘Falling’ is a musical response to political events in the modern world and a powerful vehicle to express T U R Y A’s feelings.

T U R Y A performs the songs from her debut album ‘Ocean’ for the first time on 29th October, 7.30pm at the Slaughtered Lamb, London. This will be T U R Y A’s debut live performance, seeing a much awaited return to her London roots.

If you’re in the London area, go and show some love! But for now, listen to ‘Falling’.

New Track: You – Earth2Tom (ft. Holly Flo Lightly)

Following on from the previous two singles from EARTH2TOM‘s diverse hip hop debut album, ‘You’ is the latest single from the forthcoming album ‘ONE’.

Over a warm and jazzy guitar riff with an upbeat vibe, Bristol based emcee and singer Holly Flo Lightly sings a catchy bluesy chorus, and spits some honest and unadulterated raps about past relationships. On ‘You’, expect clever wordplay, impeccable delivery and raw talent.

Holly’s light-hearted vocal content came as a result of the trials and tribulations of guys she’s dated in different countries, and how it inevitably goes wrong. Something many of us can relate to, whether domestic or international!

EARTH2TOM are producers Tom Foolery Beats and Charles the Earthman, who bring smooth dusty boom bap hip hop, with conscious lyrics and a positive vibe….if you haven’t heard of these guys, well here’s your chance to check out their work…
