Song of the Day: The God Hour – Jay Boogie Bawse (ft. Keet Kolbang & Mr Shoosh)

Boston hip-hop collective Bean$tock is back with a new song from JAY BOOGIE BAWSE titled ‘The God Hour’, ft Keet Kolbang and Mr $hoo$h. Following up to the buzz from their previous mixtapes ‘More Things to Do’ and ‘Live From District 3’, the almost four-minute smooth banger sees the trio vent their views on social injustice and political uncertainty of today.

Bean$tock made their first appearance on the music blog back in January with mixtape, ‘Live From District 3’ which headed straight to the top and scooped the NEW LEASE MUSIC’s Album of the Week crown…this collective is on a serious rise, listen to ‘The God Hour.’

EP Review: Blaise Pascal

Just from the strength of the first soulful effort’ I Can’t Wait’ – featured on NEW LEASE MUSIC last month – BLAISE PASCAL‘s self-titled debut EP seems like a real contender.

In the five-track set, the London-based singer/songwriter adds ambient elements of hip-hop/boom bap and reggae to smooth futuristic (ish) soul (which I suspect is his trademark) – take it from me, this newcomer is no one-trick pony.

Overall, this EP serves as a great introduction into his endless talents and it would be very intriguing to see what he does with his future releases. Worth a trial; have a listen.

Must Listens: Dead Man’s Shoes, Without You, Know Love.

Upcoming Release: Fireman – Jake Aldridge (ft. Lisa Ambrose)

Having gone to number one on Zone Radio’s Top 40 Charts, getting his track played on Playboy TV daily and receiving airplay on Tom Robinson’s BBC Introducing Mixtape, JAKE ALDRIDGE returns with ‘Fireman’. Fusing R&B, pop and hip-hop, Aldridge tells the captivating story of losing the person you love, a theme he is all too familiar with after losing his own father at the age of 11.

‘Fireman’ features singer-songwriter Lisa Ambrose, who recently won Battle Of The Bandstands, hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Rob The Bank. This led to Ambrose supporting Mark Ronson and now collaborating with Norwich-based hip-hopper.

Inspired by the likes of Tupac Shakur and Dr Dre, Jake believes his music is entirely honest and offers his fans an insight to his life and emotions. The song has been produced by Ninety II, an up and coming producer from Bristol.

‘Fireman’ is set for release via iTunes, Spotify, Deezer and many more on 7th April 2017.
