New Track: Hit The Ceiling (Zikomo Remix) – Lion Babe
LION BABE – the New York based duo made up of singer-songwriter and performance artist Jillian Hervey and producer and instrumentalist Lucas Goodman aka Astro Raw – have released a set of must-listen, brand new remixes for their two latest tracks ‘Hit The Ceiling’ and ‘Rockets’ (feat Moe Moks).
Unveiling the addictive dance-funk Zikomo remix of ‘Hit The Ceiling’ last week to introduce the project, the band have released three further remixes. ‘Hit The Ceiling’ also gets the remix treatment from legendary dance producer and DJ Kenny Dope whilst ‘Rockets’ (feat Moe Moks) is given an urgent, Afrostep remix by mOma+Guy and a sultry and soulful update from collaborator and fellow New Yorker Simen Sez.
‘Hit The Ceiling’ is the latest song to be offered from LION BABE’s highly anticipated forthcoming project, which is set for release in the new year. Alongside their track ‘Jump Hi’ (feat Childish Gambino), ‘Hit The Ceiling’ featured on the second season of Issa Rae’s Golden Globe nominated HBO series ‘Insecure’ and also features on the show’s official soundtrack alongside tracks from artists such as SZA, Bryson Tiller and Goldlink.
Earlier this year, the band shared the first taste of the project via the sublime ‘Rockets’ feat. Moe Moks. The forthcoming project will be their first commercial release since the band’s critically celebrated debut studio album ‘Begin’, which was released last year and featured collaborations with the likes of Pharrell Williams and Childish Gambino and career-defining tracks such as ‘Treat Me Like Fire’ and ‘Jump Hi’.

New Track: I Want You – JAS x Mpho (ft. Nevita)
Within two weeks of featuring track ‘Hell Or Heaven’, J.A.S makes his presence known, teaming up with long-term collaborator Mpho with a seriously dope house number entitled, ‘I Want You.’
The three-minute sultry club filler features the smooth vocals of Nevita, who previously lent her voice to J.A.S‘ track, ‘The Moment‘.
J.A.S and Mpho previously stole the limelight with track, ‘Set Me Free‘ which was named Song of the Month by the blog in April.

Song of the Day: Dem Gyal Deh – J.Kas (ft. Franz-Von)
J.KAS dropped a fiery Mantra-produced track entitled ‘Dem Gyal Deh’ bang in the middle of the hot season.
For this two-and-a-half minute deep house number, the Sheffield emcee enlists local spitter Franz-Von to add that extra kick.

New Track: Set Me Free – Mpho & J.A.S (ft. Blossom)
He scooped NEW LEASE MUSIC’s Music Video of the Week title for singles, ‘The Moment/The Takeover’ and now J.A.S is back, teaming up Innocent Mpho Seema – otherwise known MPHO – for a brand new infectious housey number, entitled ‘Set Me Free’.
Their latest offering boasts a bombastically heavy tribal-esque bass with blissful vocals, provided by Blossom, giving the club filler a sweet lick.
The two met back in 2015, when they discover a common love for unique house music, leading to the start of their collective, Mpho & J.A.S. Their first single titled, ‘Ngiyakholwa’, generated attention on radio and online.
Away from the collective, MPHO has made a name for himself as a pianist for big band jazz group, ODD Meter and also as a percussionist for PolyrithmiX and Nubia Soul. The Music and Production graduate played drums for CRC Music band, before delving into the house music scene, co-founding the House band, Sa Kosha ke Lerole.
As well as being a reputable rapper in South Africa, J.A.S (Jayd Soliar), puts life-long passion of house and electronic music into co-founding Tiger X, which garnered support from major tastemakers across his homeland and globally.
