Rosewood 2055 Taps Boldy James, Slum Village And More For New EP ‘When The Night Calls’

After rappers MarQ Beyond and Rebel Kuzco spent the better part of the 2010s touring the world with Slum Village, and contributing to the group’s Dirty Slums 2, Evolution, and Yes! albums; the two collaborated with Statik Selektah as ROSEWOOD 2055 for their 2015 debut EP Hey! Now a trio with the addition of Detroit producer Sensei Cam (the nephew of Slum Village’s Young RJ), Rosewood 2055 releases their new EP ‘When The Night Calls’, out now via Ne’Astra Music. With stories of pain and triumph, the dense six-track EP is a display of conceptual depth and a contrast of moods without being tethered to one particular region’s sound.

“We were moving around a lot, hanging out in different cities like Dallas, Atlanta, and Miami, getting a feel for the night life and taking those experiences back home to Michigan. A lot of these songs are personal reflections of what we would think about during those travels. Vibes and ‘turn up’ were heavy when we started recording this project. We recorded a lot of upbeat, high energy songs. Once one of our friends passed away, the energy in recording sessions became a lot darker and more focused.” – Rebel Kuzco of Rosewood 2055

‘When The Night Calls’ features Boldy James, Slum Village, and Senua. This is epic set…why not check it out below…

Darshae Kiér Is Torn Between Love & Lost Through Single, ‘Desire’

DARSHAE KIÉR‘s single, ‘Desire,’ gives an insight into a situation when a person has reached the crossroads when it comes to entering a relationship with someone they truly desire, after living the fun-filled single life for many years.

The Miami artist perfectly portrays the situation, delivering a vocal performance of agony and turmoil against the bed of contrastingly light electro-pop layers as he questions and ponders all the wonderful possibilities of starting something exciting with someone new. And after much deliberation, the person in question decided to give love another try.

‘Desire’ is taken from Darshae’s six-track, sonically vibrant EP, ‘Gone,’ which was first heard across various music platforms in January. Have a listen to the single below…

Book review: Makaveli’s Prince Book One – Sam Hunter

Makaveli's Prince book one sam hunter
Now, this is the first for me…EVER. When I first started NEW LEASE MUSIC, the thought writing a review of this kind never crossed my mind until author SAM HUNTER approached me with his book Makaveli’s Prince Book One. At first, I was a little wary, but as it’s literature based around music, I couldn’t help but take up this challenge….so here goes!

Set in the roughest neighbourhood in Miami, Makaveli’s Prince Book One tells the story of Cuban-American girl (Nia Rodriguez) who became a hip-hop sensation and entrepreneur. However her journey to stardom  was a very bumpy ride…

Nia’s childhood didn’t paint a perfect scene from the Partridge Family…her tired and worn out  mother (Jade) worked her fingers to the bone, to make ends meet. Her loveless and physically abusive father  (Hugo) was desperately holding onto a failing night club.  Amongst these problems surrounding her,  Nia found true friendship in a gang member, Leon Brown (who saved her from an attack).Through a growing friendship with him, she gains a strong understanding of life on the street. She also found comfort and really connected with a certain legendary rapper…

After her father’s death, the club was gaining popularity  thanks to Jade’s hard work – but before she could  fully enjoy the club’s success, Jade lost her battle with cancer. A distraught  Nia owe it to her  mother’s memory by turning what was once her father’s run down joint into the  number one spot for underground hip-hop in Miami. She also became a well- respected hip-hop artist along the way. Despite her roaring success as a hip-hop artist and a nightclub owner, there was something that was eating away at Nia…just before her death, Jade left her daughter a message that would change her life forever…

Ok, maybe my explanation of the story doesn’t do it any justice, but SAM HUNTER‘s exceptional and bums-off-seats delivery in Makaveli’s Prince Book One, is sure to keep you gripped leading up to the events that changed Nia’s life for better… or it is for worse? Is the suspect killing you? You can get Sam Hunter’s book in various formats. Details via this link: http://wp.me/s1bKeK-purchase. Enjoy!
