Hip-Hop Duo Re. Decay Shares Track, ‘In The Morning’

Hailing from Berlin, RE. DECAY‘s debut single, ‘Sun In The Morning’ is smothered with old school soul/funk vibes, spanning from the 80’s, underpinned with J Dilla-style hip-hop. The infectious number features ADH, Mawcom X & Sedric Perry adding extra spice to the nostalgic arrangements.

Speaking of the release Re. Decay says: “From the beginning, this song has been an expression of overcoming adversity. Mawcom X was almost unable to get us his verse because of power outages in Ghana but he made it happen. This is symbolic of the spirit of this song. The message is clear and true.”

Re.decay is comprised of Owen Ross and Emanuel Bender, both established musicians within their own right. Owen Ross has performed as both a solo artist (being featured in Huffington Post) as well as with the band Re-Up which opened for big names such as The Roots, Big Boi, Gym Class Heroes, OK Go!, Biz Markie and Afroman. He currently works with a wide range of up and coming artists.

Emanuel Bender has a decent rap sheet from his work as a producer with artists such as Alle Farben, Dillistone, Moli, Fhat and others. He has also worked on several International TV ads (BMW, AUDI and TOYOTA), created music for feature films, and released several successful unofficial remixes, including ones for Awolnation and Monsters and Men. As a result, the producer has received over 1.6 million plays across streaming platforms and reached Hype Machine #1 place multiple times.

Released last Friday (1st May), via SPRINGSTOFF, ‘In The Morning’ is lifted from their upcoming EP, ‘Down Long Enough’ out on 19th June.

Jatzdakid Delivers Psychedelic Track ‘This Is The Place’ + Video

JATZDAKID slams down his first release of the year, ‘This Is The Place’, which sees the emerging rapper in his element, freestyling and singing over a trippy and atmospheric trap beat, delivering his trademark trip hop style that earned him a devout cult fan base.

The track is accompanied by a The Doors-esque video which shows Jatz fly out to LA, followed by videographer Casper Masi, as he stumbles through Hollywood Boulevard and finds himself trekking through the desert with classic Jatzdakid style.

Taking music seriously two years ago, after being kicked out on the streets, 2018 was a huge stepping stone for Jatz; dropping project ‘Just Another Kid’ featuring Octavian, TysxnRxmain and more, with his lead single ‘4’ racking up 50k streams on Soundcloud alone. He’s also gone on to collaborate with some of the UK’s more hyped artists such as Capo Lee, Kadiata, Vinch and House of Pharaohs members Sam Wise, Blaze YL and Bandanna

Former Britain’s Got Talent finalist Asanda Jezile Releases Self-Empowerment Track, ‘Photogenic’

ASANDA JEZILE‘s debut single ‘Photogenic’ may be a summer charged banger, but beyond the boastful R&B/trap arrangements, there is a serious message that we all need to take note of….

‘Photogenic’ was came to fruition after Asanda appeared on Britain’s Got Talent at the age of 11, when she came under criticism following her first televised BGT audition. Her cover of ‘Diamonds’ by Rihanna was praised by many including the star judging panel consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon & David Walliams…however some viewers criticised the performance for being too mature for someone who was so young, especially given the sexualised theme of the track. Despite the criticism, Asanda went on to capture the hearts of the nation with a series of show stopping performances on the hit ITV talent show. The young talent – who is now 18 years old – made it all the way to the live grand final attracting over 13 million TV viewers.

Speaking out on why the talent show inspired her the write ‘Photogenic’, Asanda said, “I had a lot of negative comments after my BGT performance, but I was just being real. At the time ‘Diamonds’ was one of my favourite songs, and Rihanna is an artist who I truly respect, so why wouldn’t I want to perform it on national TV? I totally understand why some people may have thought that I was pushed into singing that song by the TV company, but the negativity taught me that even if you do the right thing you’ll never be able to please everyone. ‘Photogenic’ is my way of saying “this is me, I don’t care what you think, I’m proud and I’m confident of who I am, I hope you like it, but if you don’t – that’s fine too.”

Citing British urban powerhouse Stormzy and female MC Steff London as inspiration, Asanda hopes that the her inspiring, self confidence fuelled lyrics in ‘Photogenic’ will become the soundtrack to the lives of young people at a time when the “be kind” message has never more relevant.

“We love to capture every moment of our life and look back through the memories in years to come. We all want to look good on the outside, but being photogenic is about inner beauty and confidence as well. In today’s world of social media, you have to be confident in yourself as there’s so much negativity and judgement online”, she says.

Later this year Asanda is planning to take her “be kind, be you” message into schools as part of a nationwide initiative raising awareness of cyberbullying and online safety.
