Listen to Teon Gibbs’ Single, ‘Easy’, Inspired by True Love.

Hip hop artist TEON GIBBS is quickly becoming one of the most well known voices coming out of Canada. His second soulful single from his own label (100 Collective Records) ‘Easy,’ is inspired by new love – one that has successfully moved from friends to lovers. For Teon, the relationship snapped into place and felt easy.

Teon says of his memerising offering:“‘Easy’ is meant to feel like floating, kind of embodying the joy of a new relationship with someone and trying to hold on to those moments of new love. I developed the drum pattern and then brought in an A-list Team. Falcxne, JT, Jaspa, Jub and Nate from Potatohead People and I created this song off of pure synergy. This genre-bending single feels like a milestone moment in my career growth, and sound exploration. Feel like it gives people a taste of what’s to come next.”

Originally from Botswana, Teon has lived in the UK, South Africa and Angola before settling in Vancouver, Canada. He’s currently working with 3 x Grammy Award winning producer Chin Injeti (whose Grammy wins include: Eminem’s Recovery, Marshall Mathers LP 2 and Lecrae’s Gravity) to perfect his genre-bending soulful trademark – a sound that’s already praised by the likes of Exclaim! and Complex UK.

Ishani Addresses An Unhealthy Romantic Connection In Gripping New Single ‘Powertripp’ + New Video

Singer-songwriter and producer ISHANI has never been afraid of pushing the boundaries of her sound or shining a light on topics that others would wish to sweep under the carpet. Through her music, she engages with subjects that society sometimes finds difficult to talk about such as mental health and violence against women. Her empowering and gripping new single ‘Powertripp’ is a perfect example of this India & UK raised, London-based artist’s creative ethos.

Sonically, ‘Powertripp’ is a rich tapestry of oscillating electronica, intricately laced alt-pop melodies and enticing trip-hop beats. With this powerful soundscape behind her, Ishani confronts the reality of unbalanced power dynamics in toxic relationships. In her rendering, this narrative focuses on an unhealthy romantic connection, although the message can really be applied to any relationship. Her vivid storytelling brims with puissance to enable the listener to feel the “slam!” of that door or join the triumphant declaration “this is who I am!” Her raw and heartfelt lyrics take modern life’s surfaces, reflections and tribulations, and casts them through the prism of introspective voices

For Ishani, the most important factor is for her audience to have a truly cathartic experience, as she explains:

“This is a song about self-love and how you can overcome being in a toxic relationship where negative patterns repeat. You have to come to a point where you let go of the rope of that power struggle and choose yourself over the endless loops. Take off your mask and veil and walk away.”

The music video for ‘Powertripp’ was directed and executive produced by Yolanda Barker, with video DOP and executive producer Beatriz Delgado Mena, and alongside an all-women base crew. These captivating visuals are peppered with tangible cues that further communicate the power struggles, the mask-wearing, the cycle of bad behavior that defines toxic relationships.

‘Powertripp’ also marks Ishani’s bold return after a brief hiatus; she last left 2021 off with thought-provoking singles ‘I Like Who I Am (Caught up in the Moment)’ and ‘Perfect Life’ . Check out the video for the single below…

OUT TODAY: Listen To Cherry Lena’s Heartfelt Single, ‘Toxic Woman’.

Montreal’s alternative Pop R&B singer-songwriter CHERRY LENA‘s new single, ‘Toxic Woman’ explores the idea that people should not see their pain as a weakness, but rather as an opportunity to grow into an elevated version of themselves.

Lena confides, “This song is a sort of letter to myself. I wrote it last summer, at a dark time of my life. Whenever I feel down, I have this strange sensation that I’m stuck in a web of eternal negativity. Losing my sense of time, It’s like my sadness overpowers every part of my being and I feel incapable of relating to others. Relying only on myself in these moments, this song kind of represents the interaction between myself and a past happier version of me.”

Written in producer Jay Lavigne’s home studio, Lena set about encapsulating her truly cathartic musical messages in her new single with passionate vocal energy, backed up by rising synthesisers and contagious melodies.

Hoping that listeners will find resonance amongst her rhythms, She continues, “I believe It’s only when we feel down that we really truthfully hear music’s messages. I think that applies to this song too. Anyone who’s experienced any sort of deep sorrow in their life will feel connected to this song. I’m hoping it’ll bring some sort of comfort.”

Having first captured the attention of audiences with her performances on The Voice Quebec in 2018, Cherry Lena continues to win over the hearts of listeners across the globe. Her cover of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” in collaboration with Apashe has received more than eight million views on YouTube alone.

‘Toxic Woman is out today (10th November) across various music platforms. Listen below…

Ghostface600 Drops Track ‘Dragon Tattoo’ + Video

Having spent the years rising through the ranks, with his raw unfiltered street talk winning over audiences, GHOSTFACE600 releases a R&Drill drop ‘Dragon Tattoo’

Showing a soft, vulnerable side ‘Dragon Tattoo’ follows on from recent release ‘Blue Mat’ and features a female vocalist DXINX. The visal is directed by Ghostface600 himself alongside Kirx Diaz. Continuing with a dark theme, not so much content wise this time around but more so with the visuals being shot at night with an elegant twist featuring a piano in the visuals, as well as Ghostface600 putting his mask back on for parts of the video after having recently revealed his face in previous visual “Super Freak”.

Showing off his increasingly diverse sound and revealing a new side to his artistry with every release, Ghostface600 continues to propel his career to new heights…check out the video for his new single below…

Ev Bird shares the ‘Puff Piece’ EP

Montréal-based artist, EV BIRD‘s EP ‘Puff Piece’ has been out just under a month and has already been tipped by the likes of FADER, Stereogum and Exclaim.

Sonically, the EP seamlessly ties together the worlds of slacker-rock, jazz, prog, hip-hop and R&B, slipping into a world also occupied by the likes of Mac Demarco, Yellow Days and HOMESHAKE. It’s a smorgasbord of genres that Ev molds into a sound that feels equal parts instantly familiar while refreshingly new.

Speaking about the release, Ev explains:“Puff Piece is an assortment of songs written and recorded at home over the last couple of years, which I’m very excited to share. The album started with a handful of guitar or piano ideas that I built up over time and shaped to my liking. The lyrical content on the album I think was a product of the time when things were uncertain and looking grim. It all came together though after teaming up with Noah Rubin and Boldy James, both of whom were a pleasure to work with.”
