Song of the Day: House Wife – Emili

EMILI’s self-written/produced single, ‘House Wife’ – out now across various music platforms – started as a fun idea from a funky beat she made.

Emili’s former day-to-day life could be described as a dutiful housewife, spending her time cooking and cleaning while steadily growing her music career. She once joked to a friend: ‘What about go for a walk, quick coffee shop, no 9-5 but the work never stops’? The quick witted line formed the first verse of ‘House Wife’.

With a gleeful fusion of jazz, funk and pop, ‘House Wife’ evolved into a playful anthem about loving the ‘housewife’ lifestyle – but when producing the single, Emili was conscious of the fact, while she enjoyed being a housewife, the role may be viewed as outdated and sexist by today’s standards. This prompted Emili to look into the typical life of a 1950s housewife, which inspired her to add a bridge to reflect the 50s ideals, and the ending as a little nod to how it was sold as ‘the dream’.  Among the feel good vibes and humorous lyrics, there is an underline statement to the single: being a housewife is only a pleasant experience if it’s a choice.

‘House Wife’ serves as a teaser to Emili’s work-in-progress album set for an early 2026 release, and marks new chapter of incorporating humour in her music, bringing her closer to her quirky retro sound.

Counting Sabrina Carpenter, Adele, Michael Bublé, and Silk Sonic as her biggest Influences, Emili’s passion for music started in high school musical theatre in her native Australia, where she fell in love with storytelling and performing. She continued with acting after school, until her husband encouraged her to pursue music—despite feeling nervous she might not be good enough.

Emili quickly banished her nerves aside and went on a mini tour in Australia in 2024 called Wacky Wonderland. In the same year, Emili released her debut single ‘Vanity’ which she produced entirely on her own. The easy listening ballad was the second song she’d ever written; ‘House Wife’ is the third song she’s written.

First generation Australia, ethnically Macedonian/Serbian, Emili moved to the UK in 2025 to pursue a music career. She’s currently working with Hot Vox and War Child UK to combine music with meaningful causes. Her tour profits went to charities that support children in unfortunate circumstances.

A graduate in Theatre and Music, Emili is becoming force to be reckoned with. A true powerhouse, she has done everything herself—from designing posters and merchandise to writing and producing her songs, and even directing and editing her own music videos.  Emili’s other passion are chickens—so much so that her logo is a chicken. She has a chicken tattoo, and her chicken mascot, Steve, features throughout her brand.

To date, Emili’s tracks have accumulated approximately 30,000 streams from building her fanbase through open mic nights and from the firm support of family and friends sharing her music.

As Emili is currently finalising her album for an early 2026 release, she teases us with the infectious single ‘House Wife’, out now for your pleasure across various music platforms.

Song of the Day: LLaw – 101 Mix – 9Bach

9BACH has deservedly earned their flowers as one of the most acclaimed acts to come out of Wales. Known for fusing traditional Welsh musical heritage seamlessly with a contemporary, cutting edge feel, the band quickly gained popularity beyond their native borders, performing across various countries, including Spain, Holland, Canada, Aotearoa, Vietnam, Australia and the Middle East.

After taking a five-year hiatus, the band enters new grounds and collaborated with artist/producer Andy Gangadeen – who has worked with leading bands, among them, Chase & Status and Lava La Rue – for their single, ‘LLaw – 101 Mix’, exclusively available on Bandcamp. Inspired by Lisa and Martin’s love for the acid house movement from the 80’s and 90’s, ‘LLaw – 101 Mix’ immediately draws you in with a mesmerically smooth electronic drive, with Lisa’s vocal performance in Welsh adding the ultimate euphoric and liberating touch to the production.

9Bach was formed in 2005 by lead vocalist Lisa Jen and guitarist Martin Hoyland, followed by bass guitarist Dan Swain, vocalist and pianist Mirain Haf Roberts and producer Andy Gangadeen. The band name is a play on numbers and words: 9 is as in Nain, (pronounced nine), which means grandmother in the North of Wales; Bach means little and is also a term of endearment in Welsh. In one language 9 is something so mundane as a number, but in Welsh Nain is a cozy, family-orientated, lovely thing – all the qualities that’s associated with a grandmother.

As well as being the lead vocalist and founding member from one of Wales’ most innovate band, Lisa is also a long-term vocal collaborator with Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals: she featured on the Candylion album, and sang live on the Candylion/Hotel Shampoo tour dates. Along with fellow 9Bach vocalist Mirain, Lisa also featured on Gruff Rhys’ albums, Seeking New Gods and Bablesberg. In addition to her extensive work with Rhys, Lisa also lent her voice to Public Service Broadcasting’s Every Valley album.

Now they’re back from a lengthy break, 9Bach enters a new chapter, exploring even more innovative sounds. Their collaboration with Andy is sure to solidify position in the Welsh and international scene.

‘LLaw – 101 Mix’ is out available on Bandcamp. Have a listen below…

Introducing Australian superstar in the making EMEREE who releases her new single ‘Spring Cleaning’, a soulful anthem of hearing and rebirth, on 24th April through Xelon Digital. She has already amassed millions of views on social media with her single, ‘Leave You Like a Man’. With her devout and fast growing fanbase she is ready to set the international world alight with her unique musical style.

‘Spring Cleaning,’ is bold and cathartic and marks a new chapter in her musical journey, a deeply personal and empowering track that speaks to reclaiming your space and mending from past trauma. The track was written during the Women in Music Production songwriting camp in Perth, where she connected with fellow artists Drea, Bri Clark, and GEORGA RAATH. The song was born out of EMEREE’s journey of recovery after surviving domestic violence, a painful and life-altering experience she’s still coming to terms with.

“After such a difficult year, I needed to make space for myself again. I wanted to free myself from the emotional clutter that had been taking up so much of my mind and energy. The idea of ‘spring cleaning’ emotionally and mentally resonated with me during that time.” – EMEREE

Musically, ‘Spring Cleaning’ is a soulful anthem blending EMEREE’s signature 90s R&B influences with lush production and her unmistakable whistle notes. The track’s empowering lyrics reflect EMEREE’s journey of reclaiming her own power. The infectious groove and vulnerability make ‘Spring Cleaning’ not just a song, but an invitation to let go of what no longer serves you and step into your own strength.

EMEREE aka Gabrielle Emery is a standout musician, producer, a multi-instrumentalist and with an impressive four-octave vocal range. Her music confidently shines alongside contemporary RnB fusion artists RAYE and Cleo Sol. The homage to classic soul in the ilk of Amy Winehouse is woven into EMEREE’s self-produced records. As a writer, her lyrics often explore the realms of sexual identity and female empowerment with addictive honesty.

A commended producer in her own right, EMEREE’s golden touch has catapulted works to over 50 million Spotify streams that includes Tyla Jane’s hit “Energy” which also boasts massive international sync placements. She is in global demand both as a producer and songwriter and is set to collaborate with the iconic Nile Rogers in the coming months.

On stage, her magnetism has thrust her into the spotlight, supporting Australian heavyweights Thelma Plum, JACOTENE, and recently Budjerah, upon the release of her debut EP ‘Gold’. She is set to shine internationally with performances lined up at this year’s Great Escape Festival in Brighton and as part of the Groucho Club’s Golden Slipper line up this May.

She is championed by airplay on national radio stations Triple J and Triple J Unearthed as well as fervent local radio rotation and commercial radio. EMEREE has landed countless editorial playlists reaching large audiences including ‘Fresh Finds of 2023’ and ‘Beat Waves’.

“This is the full triple threat – lush delivery, deep production and excellent styles. Such a strut to this – soulful and golden.” – Steph Hughes, Triple J

Australian favourites Eves Karydas and Tia Gostelow handpicked this talented artist for a residency at Brisbane’s 4000 Studios with APRA AMCOS. The residency featured mentorship from multi-platinum record producers and collaborations with esteemed Australian artists. She was nominated for ‘Best Soul/Gospel Work’ at the Music Victoria Awards and received an Honourable Mention in the International Songwriting Competition for ‘Leave You Like a Man’.

She was named one of NME’s top 100 artists of 2025 and nominated for Self-Producing artist of the year with the Music Producer and Engineer’s Guild. Song of the Day: Devotion – Midnight Mystery Club

MIDNIGHT MYSTERY CLUB (MMC) broke the bank on their latest single, ‘Devotion’. With no budget, no ads, it’s a song that hits hard and begs for grace.

After emptying the ashes of the remaining budget, MMC have decided to release music anyways. Burning through the last nickel with nothing left to relying on than their dedicated fans and supporters.

Following the wake of artists like Duke Dumont, Kiesza, and Disclosure, ‘Devotion’ is a throwback to the early 90s dance floor. Lit in neon and pulsating light with a powerful hook that surprises with a gut-punch of emotion. After the almost anthemic intro the track breakdown into an emotional deep dive of falling short in love and the desperate need for forgiveness.

On the surface ‘Devotion’ feels like a snapback in time with hard hitting 909 snares evoking memories of strobe lights and underground warehouse parties. Then the drop pulls you back, unapologetically into something softer, melodic, and almost tender. It’s bright electricity on the surface until you hear the brokenness of the first line “My feelings of devotion are fleeting emotions from hot springs to deep oceans in a day”. It’s about setting out to conquer the world and ending up stranded in a ditch. Where the best of intentions are often met with the realities of weakness that gives birth to humility and surrender.

The plea “If I break your heart can you amend it, heal it with your scares”, overflowing with remorse that recognizes that expectations of greatness may only be forecasting shortfalls. The hope in the silver lining is that scars heal stronger than new skin and that broken bones are never break in the same place twice.
Before the depth of what’s been presented settles in you’re back to the groove and the glue that holds this dance track together. With a solid hook that is slapping the walls while the hefty weight of emotions echo in the distance.

In an oddly serendipitous way, MMC had hoped to release this song with a shiny campaign focused on blowing it up right out of the gate, but like the best of intentions they’ve been sidelined to replying solely on the kindness of goodwill of those who believe in this project and who resonate with dreamers who just love music and sharing what is crafted in love. Those who long for something nostalgic but causes the soul to feel something new. That resonates truth in a way that causes us to question life’s meaning and our own place as humans within it.

Midnight Mystery Club are winners of the Independent Music Awards electronic/ dance Producers of the Year. Their music has been featured by the brands Zara, Gap, and Tommy Hilfiger amongst others. Their previous releases have been featured on many Ibiza classic compilations including Cafe Mambo Sunsets, Cafe del Mar, and Joe Morris’ Shade of Summer. They continue to dream big dreams and trust that in the end true love wins and with forgiveness, healing can make remorse into unashamed beauty.

Now it’s time to check out the latest masterpiece below…
