New Track: Vogue – J Kas

Following the release of the boom bap project ‘Dreamlife’ in February – which was named Album of the Month by NEW LEASE MUSIC – UK rapper J KAS bounces right back with something that’s guaranteed to shake up your summer…

His latest Mantra-produced track, ‘Vogue’ – the first release from his forthcoming project, ‘Dreamlife Summer Jamz’ – sees the Sheffield wordsmith’s delivery effortlessly vibing with the upbeat chords, fused with tropical house and splashes of Afrobeats.

J KAS will be touring across Portugal to engage with the natives for the production of his Summer Jamz project and will go on to headline at this year’s Elevate Young Minds Lisbon Festival and Tramlines Music Festival.

Along with his recent success with his ‘Dreamlife’ EP on this blog, J KAS has also received raving praises in the past from BBC Radio One/ BBC 1Xtra’s elite music tastemakers, Charlie Sloth, DJ Ace, Huw Stevens and Tony Robinson. His summer-charged track ‘Dem Gyal Deh’ featuring Franz-Von, peaked at number 12 in the BBC introducing Sheffield Top 50 Tracks of 2017.

New Track: 6am – Allana Verde

North-West Londoner ALLANA VERDE reveals an addictive dose of R&B in the form of new single ‘6am’, collaborating with witty wordsmith Mikill Pane to craft a rich, soulful tapestry.

The passionate number is laden with fresh synths, enveloping Allana’s multi-layered vocals with lush 90s pop and flashes of sprawling electronica.

‘6am’ is the conclusion of a 4-track EP that goes on a journey of an all-nighter that starts past midnight. Her previous releases have garnered extensive online support from i-D, Complex and USA Today, as well as airplay from Trevor Nelson on BBC 1Xtra. Her dreamy electronic ballads and soulful R&B numbers have seen her team up with a number of influential musicians, including DaVinChe, Mercston and Ghetts.

Allana will be joining Hackney MC Paigey Cakey and Birmingham’s rising rapper Lady Sanity for Urban Development’s biggest ever showcase at The Great Escape this May. In a recent feature with Music Week, the organisation opened an important conversation regarding British grassroots culture, by continuing to champion urban talent and offering opportunities to underprivileged BAME youth throughout the country.

New Music Video: Queen – Jessie J

After months of fueling excitement and anticipation, JESSIE J unveils an epic four-part rollout for her anxiously awaited fourth full-length release R.O.S.E. [LAVA/Republic Records]. The schedule is as follows: R.O.S.E. (Realisations) out May 22, R.O.S.E (Obsessions) out May 23, R.O.S.E. ( Sex) out May 24, and R.O.S.E. (Empowerment) out May 25.

Additionally, she shares a poignant, inspiring, and powerful music video for her latest single “Queen.” On the track, her delivery practically chills, stretching from vulnerable verses into a seismic refrain befitting of its crucial message. The empowering lyrics, “I love my body, I love my skin, I am a goddess, I am a queen,” come to life on-screen in the video.

The QUEEN video celebrates a series of all women from multicultural backgrounds, including Lizzie Velásquez star of the powerful documentary A Brave Heart: The Lizzie Velásquez Story and Fullscreen’s Unzipped. It’s JESSIE J’s rawest and realist statement to date.

JESSIE J first heralded R.O.S.E. with the single ‘Think About That,’ singing an honest lyric giving her heartbeats an insight into her new feel and sound. Followed by the release of ‘Not My Ex’ which has already reached seven million Spotify streams and 20 million YouTube/VEVO views. In addition to working on the anticipated release, JESSIE J also launched a sold out headline tour of intimate venues worldwide, and contributed ‘I Got You (I Feel Good)’ to the Fifty Shades Freed Original Motion Picture soundtrack.

Recently she had tremendous success in China, joining the TV show SINGER – a singing competition where she performed each week in front of a television audience of 250 million with a grand finale viewership of one billion. Not only was JESSIE J the first international artist to ever compete alongside the biggest artists in Asia, but also the first to ever win.

New Track: Take A Picture – Sub Blue

SUB BLUE rocks up to today’s spotlight and delivers new single entitled ‘Take A Picture.’

Rocking a seriously chilled R&B vibe, the youngster’s newest material covers the ills of selfie and social media culture as well as narcissism.

“It’s an exploration of the ills of social media, selfie nation and living a superficial lifestyle ”, SUB BLUE says,“It’s as though if there’s no picture or proof online, it didn’t happen. And people will do anything to chase those cyber likes…even if it means representing themselves and their lives in an exaggerated way. I’m in this every day so I wanted to do my own take on it as I feel these are real issues we are dealing with.”

‘Take A Picture’ was produced by acclaimed emerging producers A.V & Sir Dylan during a recent studio run while SUB BLUE was in L.A. The two California-based producers – who between them have worked with the likes of Frank Ocean, Solange, The Weekend and many more – found a true creative vibe with the kid from North-West UK.

Song of the Day: Doing It Stealthy – Oloff

Coming from his latest EP ‘Abyssopelagic’, released earlier this month, OLOFF drops his uptempo offering entitled ‘Doing It Stealthy.’

The accompanied video features the Bristolian working the stage, while slamming his wayward but satisfying flow over State 808-esque bars.
