Fresh off the back of her latest five-track EP, ‘Pt. 2,’ UK-based artist/songwriter, BETHIA is back with her latest single, ‘Fake Feelings’. The anthemic Pop/R&B track is a chance for her to harness and share her self-empowerment after going through what felt like a “fake breakup.”

Speaking of her self-written single, Bethia shares: “I created this song for anyone who has ever felt cheated of their own emotions in whatever situation that best resonates; especially if you find it hard to open up emotionally in the first place,”

Bethia is making a name for herself via gigs such as BBC Music Introducing LIVE, and Tileyard Studios, to writing with and for other artists. She developed her own segment – ‘Bethia’s Beats’ – as part of Danyl Johnson’s show for BBC Radio Berkshire & podcast “Best Thing”.

In 2020, Bethia teamed up with Danish Electronic R&B Producer/Artist, Mört to create a project of collaborative work heavily influenced by R&B, Pop and Trap Soul. Tracks from their EP’s “Part 1” and “Part 2” both appeared on Spotify’s “Brand New Chill” & “New Music Friday Denmark” as well as “New In R&B” on Apple Music. Bethia went on to release three solo singles that created a lot of traction on TikTok gaining her over 30,000 followers in the last year. Through fan interaction alone, her track “Should I Know Better” soared from 2,000 to over half a million streams on Spotify and Apple Music in just a few weeks. It currently sits at over 800,000 streams on Spotify alone and is due to surpass one million streams but the end of the year.

KODAE Returns With Vibrant Single, ‘Fractals’

Following their debut appearance on the blog with spine tingling Nu soul/jazz piece, ‘Awake With Crystal Eyes’, back in February 2021, five-piece group K O D A E has totally flip the script on their sound with brand new single, ‘Fractals’.

With featherly light tones and guitar licks injecting some groove into the production, ‘Fractals’ feels like a deep breath. The last couple of years reminded K O D A E of the importance of presence and community and as things have opened back up, many people have fallen into the busy trap of trying to make up for lost time. This song is a reminder of savoring the moment and regaining connection to the world.

Combining a mutual love of modern groove with personal connections to nature and mysticism, With their different backgrounds, each member from K O D A E brings a unique flavour to the table: Annie da Silva’s velvety voice and cutting lyrics, Owen Mcpherson’s gospel roots on the deep five, Seyoung Lee’s lush jazz textures on the keys, Curtis Sauer’s ambitious groove on the drums and Eric Osborne’s fluid harmonies on the guitar.

Song of the Day: Kumasi – Br3nya

After taking a year off to hone her sound, heading to Ghana for the first time in 10 years to collaborate with producers and artists on the ground, BR3NYA returns to reclaim her crown as a UK Rap Queen and drops her latest single,’Kumsai’ which features her trademark witty, sassy wordplay with production from MADEINPARRIS paying homage to one of her favourite cities in Ghana

Speaking on the single, Br3nya said:“Kumasi represents a metaphorical journey of my recent life experiences and the journey of rediscovering myself, my confidence, my truth and most importantly my heritage. It celebrates the fun essence and vibrancy of Ghana shedding light on underrepresented parts of the country which are just as full of life. It shows the duality of my identity being born and raised in west London but never losing sight of my true inner ‘Innit innit girl’. Kumasi being the pit stop between Accra and my hometown holds a very special spot in every trip I take back home; I can’t skip it and all it’s beauty-sometimes I pass through there to visit and build memories with family and more recently to celebrate the life of loved ones who have passed over, but each time is special.”

The British/Ghanaian rapper bewitched listeners as a ‘One To Watch’ in 2020 with a lyrical ability and confident, clever delivery that drew co-signs from the likes of Stormzy, Headie One, Ms Banks, and Ivorian Doll, playlists at BBC Radio 1, Capital Xtra, BBC 1Xtra and support from The Guardian, British Vogue, The Face, NOISEY, CRACK, The Fader, Complex UK, CLASH and NME.
