Steven Christopher Delivers His New Video For ‘In My Head’

STEVEN CHRISTOPHER‘s music video for his single ‘In My Head’ feature his friends and R&B/pop singer himself storm Area 51, causing a little chaos along the way…

Taking off on a road trip in search of aliens, the group eventually find exactly what they’re looking for. The video’s concept of alien abduction plays on the song’s lyrics about being a loner and feelings of not fitting in.

Speaking of the latest visual, Steven says: “When writing the treatment, I tried to think of another way to express a sometimes dark but very real desire to get away besides the obvious. Being a Sci-Fi nerd, the idea of being taken to an entirely new galaxy seemed a lot more interesting.”

The video is Steven’s first stab at directing along with frequent collaborator Joey Lopez…check it out below…

Future Soul Outfit Shookrah shares ‘Notions’ Video

Senita Appiakorang (lead vocals), Emmet O’Riabhaigh (drums), Daniel Coughlan (guitar), Diarmait Mac Carthaigh (keyboard) and Brian Dunlea (bass guitar) – aka Irish future-soul act SHOOKRAH – have shared the video for their new single ‘Notions’, directed by band member Emmet O’Riabhaigh.

Forming part of their upcoming self-titled album, set to drop on 25 October, the track itself is centered around the time we waste staying in dysfunctional relationships. “It’s a recognition of faults committed to the other and yourself in seeking out traits other than those presented to you, which disqualifies the question of who was right or wrong and bares the reality of how hollow we become when we want something so bad that a tarnished version of it will do” says Senita. Fittingly the video features Senita sitting alongside herself in a plush nightclub setting, both “characters” cathartically exploring these emotions through the track.

She explains further: “The song is a reflection and address to a past lover. It felt appropriate to play my double, and kind of centre the sentiment of the song on the delusions we all create for ourselves in fractured relationships, that allow us to prolong its dysfunction.”

Speaking of his production, Emmet O’Riabhaigh says: “We wanted to shoot something really simple and still with nice moody lighting so we decided to go with two Senitas in what looks like a lovers’ tiff. We shot it over the course of a day in the Bodega bar in Cork, and had Senita’s sister Yesunia to stand in for some of the shots, with the whole band helping out on the set.”

Named Best Act of 2017 and 50 People to Watch in 2018 by The Irish Times, the five-piece have seen substantial press support from the likes of The Irish Examiner, AFROPUNK, Wonderland Magazine, Clash Magazine, Music Week, District Magazine, Nialler9 and Made in Shoreditch Magazine. They’ve also received airplay from BBC’s Radio Ulster, and their track ‘Gerascophobia’ was named BBC Ulster’s Across The Line track of the day.

Racking up nearly 300K streams on digital platforms, they shared the stage with Billy Ocean on his Irish tour and have played Body & Soul Festival, Electric Picnic, Wigwam, Quarter Block Party, Other Voices Music Trail, and Knockanstockan Festival.

Valencia James Delivers Acoustic Video For Single ‘Dreamers’

Following the release of her debut single ‘Flames’, which garnered both critical and commercial acclaim, VALENCIA JAMES is back with the highly anticipated ‘Dreamers’. The single is an anthem reminding us that there is light at the end of the tunnel, and is another example of the songwriters’ praised edgy-pop style and powerful lyricism.

Valencia reveals, “I wrote Dreamers at a time in my life when I was learning how to dream again and believe for dreams that I had forgotten about. It’s kind of that song where I was just like, ‘Why can’t I do all the things that I want to?’ I had just come out of a period of depression about my future and this was my song … let’s all just start dreaming again and going for what we want in life”.

With the aspiration that her music will encourage others to believe in themselves, Valencia preaches that we can do whatever we set our minds to and that we have more in us than we think we do.

‘Dreamers’ is currently available worldwide. Check out the video below:
