New Track: On The Way – Icey Stanley

Coventry-based artist ICEY STANLEY has dropped his brand new single ‘On The Way’, taken from his latest EP ‘Still No Love In February’, a follow-up to his last year’s project, ‘No Love In February’.

Boasting a mix of upbeat and smooth jamming joints, the latest EP includes collaborations with producers Carty S, Diamond Jay, Gifted Society  MAC (Music Always Cures) and Kevin Gani, including one feature from KK The Sensei. The lyrics are relatable for those that have been in position including Icey and a reminder of those feelings that can be expressed through this song.

New Music Video It’s Not A Thing 2 Man – Skatta (ft. BFAST, Outz, Ridla & ShadowCV6)

The SKATTA led Coventry collaboration of MCs have upped the levels on this video which has been unleashed to SBTV last week.

Fusing the sounds of grime and garage, ‘It’s not a thing 2 man’ is SKATTA‘s latest outing, as he shares the attention and brings through a range of heavy Coventry MC talent. Echoing what he did in 2015 with ‘Has it come to This’ which saw him appear live as a guest on BBC 1xtra, this is a high paced energetic sing a long grime hit which is all about the mindset of being able to hit your goals without it being a big deal!

The song features Coventry talent  BFAST, Outz, Ridla & ShadowCV6. ShadowCV6’s track ‘Not Alone’ was named Song of the Week by NEW LEASE MUSIC for two consecutive weeks in May.

Song of the Day: Crank – Khaos Brown

Coventry seems to be blazing with upcoming rappers these days – and we’re not talking about the type that sold their soul to the mainstream: last week, NEW LEASE MUSIC featured upcomer ShadowCV6, who broke the taboo and went right in to address male mental health, through his latest single, ‘Not Alone.’

Now it’s KHAOS BROWN‘s turn to steal today’s limelight. The rapper/songwriter started out in secondary school as a release for the feelings and came to realise his friends and family related to his work, pushing him to go into overdrive. The result, is a pretty dope discography…and track ‘Crank’ is one of them.

Categorise as ‘realist rap’ by the hip-hop upriser, the three-track offering is accompanied by a crisp black and white visual which gives a glimpse into his reality…trust me on this one; it’s worth checking out.

New Music Video: Not Alone – ShadowCV6

As played by DJ Semtex on Friday night’s BBC 1xtra show, ‘Not Alone’ is the poignant new single from emerging SHADOWCV6, which bravely sheds light on male mental health. For too long male mental health has been a silent subject, especially in the UK where 76% of suicides are by men and it is the biggest cause of death for men under 35, with 12.5% of men in the UK suffering from one of the common mental health disorders.

With the likes of Jamal Edwards, Stormzy and Professor Green all recently opening up about depression, SHADOWCV6’s mission to destroy the stigma surrounding male mental health comes at a vital time.

Speaking of the latest single, the Coventry rapper explains: “As someone who suffers with anxiety and depression, I understand how people feel alone and like no one can relate to what they are going through. This song is a way of showing people that they are Not Alone and you can talk about it. A problem shared is a problem halved”

The young artist offers some passionate bars on the topic that rise in intensity as the Bolus produced track is accompanied by some glossy guitar-flavoured production….so take a sneak peek of the video for ‘Not Alone’.
