New Music Video: Been Hustlin’ – Guvna B

Blazing straight on to Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist, Apple Music’s Best of the Week and DJ Target’s #UKUnsigned record of the day, GUVNA B releases his new single ‘Been Hustlin’, the second track taken from his forthcoming album.

Centering on life lessons and rebelling against the status quo, ‘Been Hustlin’ is ultimately an insight into GUVNA B and the impressive journey the musician has been on. The double MOBO award-winning rap and grime star lays down energetic and inspiring lyricism with his signature delivery across the melodic rap instrumental, while cheeky samples of Only Fools and Horses draw reference to the ultimate hustler, Del Boy.

Having previously released the UK’s highest charting ‘clean’ Rap album in 2015 and subsequently achieving an Amazon bestseller for his debut book release ‘Unpopular Culture’ in 2017, GUVNA B has long since been acknowledged for both his exemplary music and audacious application to his craft. He’s played the O2 Arena, Wembley Stadium and toured through North America, Australasia, Africa and Europe. He has worked with Destiny Child’s Michelle Williams, Matt Redman, Martin Smith, Hillsong and Nick Brewer, and platforms such as BBC, Sky News, and MTV have recognised his courage and success at making a positive impact through his music.

The accompanied video is an insight to the songs inspiration. GUVNA B explained: “My dad was a proper hard worker right up until he died. I feel like I took on that trait but I was working towards the wrong things and buying lots of things just so I could stunt. This single is about me finding out what’s really important in life”.

Yet even with such poignant meaning running deep, GUVNA B displays his sharp wit and cheeky personality. Check out the new video below from black Del Boy himself.

EP Review: The Clubs – Kiko Bun

If you’re longing for a trip to the Caribbean, I reckon KIKO BUN will take you there in a matter of seconds through his new EP ‘The Clubs’.

Kicking off with a vibrant and psychedelic take on ska with introductory single ‘ Fistful Of Nothing’, the four-track set goes on to featuring reggae that’s reminiscent of the rocksteady era, still obtaining the vibrancy.

I’m going to stick out my neck here: not every musician can successfully pull off reggae-fusion productions, but this north-west Londoner has definitely GOT IT: not only he makes a great contender in the modern reggae music scene, KIKO BUN somewhat pays homage to the legends of the 60s and 70s, such as The Mighty Diamonds, Slim Smith and Bob Marley.

Song of the Day: Smother Me – Olivia Nelson

After accumulating over five million streams featuring on Soulection Jarreau Vandal’s ‘Someone That You Love’, OLIVIA NELSON dominates today’s hotspot with gospel-led, soulful track – ‘Smother Me’.

Premiered by DJ Target on BBC Radio 1Xtra as ‘UK unsigned’, the sensual track, which mixes the perfect blend of smooth vocals, passionate lyrics, and pumping bass lines shows the 21-year-old London singer/songwriter power as not only a skilled artist and songwriter, but a powerhouse vocalist whose range and control over carefully crafted production by Jarreau Vandal.

With a debut EP due out early summer, March will see the release of the next instalment from Olivia, as well as shows at London’s Hackney Oslo and Omera.

This is some powerful stuff…I highly recommend you check out ‘Smother Me’ before you sign out.

Upcoming Release: Smokestack City – Billow Cloud

Billy Lash – aka BILLOW CLOUD – has a touch of nostalgia, packaged in a spine-tingling new wave pop/rock single entitled ‘Smokestack City’.

Reminiscing on Summer holidays in the midWest of the United States as a child, the Londoner penned the single at his Streatham home, paying homage to the industrial city of Gray, Indiana. The accompanied visuals show the footage of the city and Warren Dunes in Michigan, taken on a family vacation.

Over the last year, BILLOW CLOUD has been a regular on London’s gig scene, and is set to perform this Saturday at Kensington’s Finborough Arms in London .

Here’s your chance to taste his brand…have a listen to ‘Smokestack City,’ out tomorrow on all digital download platforms.
