DUTCH REBELLE dropped the eye-catching vibe heavy visual for the Newm Nera produced track ‘Faded’ from her latest album ‘Bang Bang’.
Shot by Nathan Delong, ‘Faded’ is a hypnotic cruise through a day with Dutch living her best life as she delivers sharp punchlines atop a breathtaking view.
North West Londoner LUKEY STOREY has come through with a new music video for latest single ‘Made For Love’, a tropical ode to moving your way through conflicted relationships and romantic fixation.
Launching himself into the scene as a solo artist in early 2018, Lukey hit the ground running, dropping playful and thought-provoking singles, making it clear from the offset he’s not afraid to delve into the cynicism and realism of life. With his debut single ‘What It’s Like’ picking up critical acclaim, his matter-of-fact lyrics and icy humour was delivered with, as described by The Line Of Best Fit “elegance and charm over a timeless hip-hop beat” – this being a continuing theme throughout Storey’s songs. Lukey boldly uses his own issues with mental health, disclosing his troubles with addiction and ADHD, to mould his creative process and signify something that goes deeper than just the music. From previous drops such as ‘What It’s Like’ and ‘Fuck Everyone’ as well as tracks throughout his debut EP ‘I’m As Shocked As You Are’ released earlier this year, it’s clear Lukey doesn’t hold back speaking openly about his demons.
This new single is no different, Storey states “it’s a song from 2 perspectives. For me, it’s a conflicted love song about taking a relationship for granted, denying to myself how I have felt and then honouring its meaning. It’s about dealing with obsession”. Calling upon talented East London vocalist STAC for chorus duties, ‘Made For Love’ deals with these issues against smooth, tropical instrumentals with hints of contemporary reggae.
His previous drops set the bar high for what’s to come next and now Lukey confidently (at no one’s surprise) continues his steady trajectory to stardom in the run up to his second EP ‘Heartwork’ – another sincere body of work making light of issues in love, trauma and realism.
Following the release of their sophomore EP, ‘Foiled’, and debut U.S. tour in 2018, which saw them sharing the stage with the likes of Iceage, Beach Fossils, Boy Harsher, and John Maus, Austin and Los Angeles-based post punk/dream pop band TEMPLE OF ANGELS are back with their first single of 2019.
‘Cerise Dream’ sees the band further explore a more melodic direction, perfect for those summer days. The single was released as a 7″ last Friday (14th June) along with the digital release through post-punk tastemakers Funeral Party Records.
In addition to the 7” release TEMPLE OF ANGELS unveiled the music video for ‘Cerise Dream’, directed and edited by vocalist Bre Morell in collaboration with Director of Photography, Erynn Patrick.
Promising Nashville pop songstress BRIT DANIELS is back with the official music video for her latest hypnotic pop single, ‘Deja Vu.’ The single, which was released in late March, is brought to life in the somber new visual directed by Matteo Guastamacchio and starring Daniels herself.
‘Deja vu’ is defined as the feeling of having already experienced the present situation and in Daniels’ ‘Deja Vu’ music video that tedious familiarity is brought to life through reversing and repeating shots of the same things happening over and over again. It’s minimalistic yet powerful, bringing the mesmeric pop song to life.
Last year there were 40,147 instances of knife crime in London – just let that terrifying, sickening number sink in for a second. Veteran UK rapper UNKLE FESTA has and he’s fighting back, harnessing the power of hip-hop to take a stand with hard-hitting new single ‘Out Your Mind’.
Uncompromising and never preachy, ‘Out Your Mind’ pulls no punches, savagely exposing the mindlessness of knife crime and issuing a rallying cry to put a stop to it. Over a haunting piano-led beat Festa asks, “How many of our children have to be dead” before launching into a machine-gun chorus bringing his vintage flow to bear on heartfelt lyrics set to stun.
The former Mud Family spitter has been in the game since the late 90s, when he linked up with Skinnyman after relocating from Cyprus to London – since then knife crime in the UK has rocketed, with fatal stabbings at their highest level since WW2.
And this violent epidemic is finding its way into the rapper’s tracks – “When I write it’s about the things on my mind and close to my heart,” said Festa. “Seeing first-hand the madness on our streets motivated me to write this track”.
The track is driven by a message and screaming for social change, and Festa is seeing the bigger picture to make that happen: ”Out Your Mind is not just for the youth to understand, but parents and government to understand – they need to listen and must change themselves to create a better environment for our children to grow”.
